The “dishwasher taste” on dishes is from fragranced detergents & also a dirty machine possibly in some cases. When the machine is clean inside it has absolutely no odor or just the odor from detergent in the last load. Use unscented pacs or powder and you won’t have that issue anymore!! Those wine glass stem holders are also cup shelves as well, fold them down and put your spatulas and larger utensils up there with smaller items beneath but keep in mind the top rack wash arm needs to spray the items on that shelf up there so don’t put many large items in the upper rack under the cup shelves when their being used. And yes clean the filter & machine very often! Awesome video Melissa!!

Ever since I began cutting the amount of soap into the dishwasher and using LESS than the manufacturer of the dishwasher provided for based on the sizing of the receptacles, my dishes have come out much cleaner without any films! It also now takes me twice as long to use up the soap! I bet you could take care of your "dishwasher flavor" trying this.

I hate condensation on my drink container. I have a small plastic container lined with a paper towel to catch it. I keep the paper towel in it until it no longer absorbs. I am water vinegar and alcohol and couple drops of Dawn team. Sometimes water and vinegar only. I am a reformed store bought product user. Since finding Clean My Space I use about 75%DIY 25% store bought. Thanks again Melissa!

I’m mostly diy - my mom was pro-natural cleaners when possible long before it was cool. For a few jobs, you can’t beat store-bought. I try to be judicious so I just purchased your diy cleaners ebook. I think I might be overly sensitive to scents and was interested that you suggested unscented soap for cleaning straws and lids. I’ve always wondered why anyone would want their dishes to smell like a meadow. Pretty sure I wouldn’t be able to handle food served on those dishes. Great tips here - I’m a big fan and recommend your channel to people all the time. Thanks for your help!

Thank you for teaching me how to effectively clean! I had chores growing up but wasn't really taught how to do anything besides spray a surface and wipe it down, which left me repeating that 5 times or more, or floddinf a surface then trying to clean that mess up, and still having less than ideal results.

Just something I noticed in the cast iron segment. The pan you have looks to be black and orange enameled cast iron and not regular cast iron. WIth Enameled cast iron there is no need to create a seasoning on the pan because that is the purpose of the enmanal, so with that type of cast iron soap is completely fine to use. However, modern soaps are also fine to use on regular cast irons as well since they don't contain lye, which is one of the ingredient that strips the seasoning. I do agree that for most clean up, if nothing is stuck on, some hot water and a wipe down or deglaze works great.

NEVER cast iron in the dishwasher! If you need to re-season a cast iron pan, there is a specific procedure for doing that. Not difficult, but takes some time. Patina off, and then you need to re-season to get the patina started again. BTW, same for baking sheets. Baking sheets will also form this patina over time, so just let them be. Makes them non-stick. Eventually, that patina will come off and that's when you need to clean it and start over, just like with cast iron. Stemless glasses are awesome. We don't use stemmed glasses any more and haven't for years. For those purists ... white may not be great in stemless because it warms the glass by your hand (and you can't appear fancy by knowing how to hold a white glass vs a red glass), so if you are having snobs over to your house, pull out the stemware for whites. Reds don't matter. Cheap knives in the dishwasher. Good cutting knives, never. I have NO idea why it would cost "thousands" to clean a cup/mug stain off of a natural stone. There are ways that cost about $20. On wood, it's cheaper and a matter of heat and the finish. Girl, fume free oven cleaner takes almost everything off of anything. Drip pans, stove tops, shower doors. Seriously. Cover if needed if the schmutz is deep. The absolutely best cleaner I've found to clean hard water stains is Apple Cider vinegar. To clean glass ... water and newspaper. It's been used for decades and it really works.

You MUST have a straw cleaning brush to clean reusable straws. A dishwasher will not clean them. Also, loofah sponges. Amazing! They are truly non-scratch, which Scotchguard is not! They scrub great, but we no longer have scratched-up cutlery. They’re cheap and compostable (louffa is a type of gourd), so we replace ours each week and throw the old one in the compost! We don’t have a worm bin anymore, but they happily ate our loofah sponges when we did 😊🪱 Edit: grammar

@@cleanmyspace I am in Europe, so I don't know if any of these are familiar to you. Atm I use a brand named Claro which I get from our local supermarket chain Rewe, or even Rewes own brand as well. Amazon EU carries Claro as well. I also use brands like Frosch, or brands that belong to local drugstore chains like DM Drugstore. All of them work very well for me. Even if I run out of (don't know the english term, Google translate calls it rinse aid...) and I have to use vinegar for a few runs, these still work like a charm for me. Maybe it has to do with different water hardnesses or something. Ours is medium hard water. I have to add that I am VERY specific with cleaning my filter every single time before starting a new cycle, this might help too.

Things 3: 1. You say the heat destroy all the bacteria, but bacteria produce substances that are nasty and sometimes dangerous depending on what bacteria. 2. Is the iron even classified as fresh/clean even if the bacteria are dead? Does it give any nasty taste or can dead bacteria be harmfull in sense of like a substance can be harmfull? 3. Do you use a newly washed dish cloth when you clean it? Most of the time the dish cloth is not clean. Depends on the person handling of dish cloth I guess. 4. Fat/oil absorbs taste. Just wondering if that is a problem when you dont remove the most recent oil/fat? (Atleast not all of it)
