Very interesting. If the inscription on the pithos vessel is the Sabaean word for 'labdanum' - an aromatic resin obtained from the Cistus ladaniferus (rock rose) native to the Southern Mediterranean (Greece/Cyprus) - why would the resin have been exported from Sheba (Yemen) in a pithos manufactured in Sheba with a Sabaean inscription to Jerusalem, as apposed to the resin being imported directly into Judea from Cyprus or Greece.? There is a possibility that the resin was first imported into Sheba and distributed from there in a pithos manufactured in Sheba. Or does the word labdanum have the same broad application of use like the Arabic word 'luban' which refers to any frankincense-like aromatic resin? Another possibility is the perfume Onycha (sourced from the Red Sea) and like frankincense might be a more obvious meaning to the inscription than is the resin from the rock rose.

The meaning behind having many foreign wives is basically to say that the the ruler of the area, the supposed King Solomon had many diplomatic relations. The mentioning of many foreign gods is a major clue, in my opinion, to who the person actually was. Someone who grew up in the traditions of the area wouldn't be so quick to adopt different deities, but someone who grew up worshipping different deities definitely would. There's different clues seeded throughout the writings about the person that Solomon was, although, there was a slant to it because of the differences between the authors of the books and the king himself.

It is to be noted that Queen of Sheba (or modern day Yemen) only HEARD about King Solomon's wisdom and what he had accomplished, as 1 Kings 10:1-3 says that "the queen of Sheʹba heard the report about Solʹo·mon in connection with the name of Jehovah (God's name, see Isa 12:2, KJV), so she came to test him with perplexing questions."(Note: King Solomon reigned from 1037-998 B.C.E.) "She arrived in Jerusalem with a very impressive entourage, with camels carrying balsam oil and great quantities of gold and precious stones. She went in to Solʹo·mon and spoke to him about everything that was close to her heart" and "Solʹo·mon then answered all her questions. There was nothing too difficult for the king to explain to her", having traveled some 1,500 miles one-way on camels to reach Jerusalem and then return the same way, on camels, that could have taken several months one-way and be very exhausting. On the other hand, the first century Jews SAW the miracles that Jesus performed, including resurrecting the dead (Luke 7:14, 15; John 11:43, 44) as the one who was "something more than Solomon" (Matt 12:42), and yet rejected him, though he was the promised Messiah, that would save obedient mankind from sin that leads to death through his ransom sacrifice.(Dan 9:24, 25) Jesus said that "the queen of the south (or the Queen of Sheba) will be raised up (or resurrected) in the judgment (or during "Judgment Day", see Matt 11:22, 24, Jesus Millennial reign, Rev 20:4-6) with this generation (who mocked Jesus, see Matt 27:42-44) and will condemn it (or the Jews as a nation for failing to accept Jesus as "the Christ of God", Luke 9:20), for she came from the ends of the earth to hear the wisdom of Solʹo·mon. Passing chap, 12, which is a mere song of joy, because of the presence of summer, I next come to the burden, oracle, or prophecy of, or concerning Babylon, or winter; for this myth of the year, which I have all along been dealing with, must be made to assume every conceivable form. Isaiah (the Savior the Sun), the son of Amoz (the zodiac), is the seer or prophet. The noise of the nations of the mountains (summer months) comes from the end of the heaven of the Lord (Jahveh), with the weapons of his indignation (the winter) to destroy the whole land - to stop the growth of vegetation (v. 5), and to lay the land desolate, i.e., to deprive it of the direct rays of the Sun (v. 9). Therefore, howl ye; for the (last) day of the Lord (Jahveh = summer) is at hand; "it shall come as a destruction from the Almighty" (v. 6). This last sentence gives but an imperfect idea of the original keshod mishaddai jabo = " it shall come according to the failure of the breasts;" thus implying the gradual cessation of the summer crops; when "they shall be afraid; pangs and sorrows shall take hold of them" (v. 8). "This (equinoctial day) of the Lord (Jahveh) cometh cruel, both with wrath and fierce anger" (v. 9); for the constellations, i.e., the six summer constellations, shall not give their (summer) light, the Sun shall be darkened (as in winter), and the moon shall not cause her light (but that of the Sun) to shine (v. 10). Thus, will I, by the hardships of winter, punish the world for their evil, i.e., for getting into the winter hemisphere? Behold, I will stir up the Medes (middle days, or such as partake of winter and summer) against them, which shall not regard silver (summer); and as for gold (spring), they shall not delight in it, for the time will be winter, the iron age (v. 17). At v. 19 we come to the prophecy of the destruction, or end of Babylon or winter. In her last days, i.e., at the end of winter, Babylon, "the glory of kingdoms, the beauty of the Chaldees' excellency," shall be as (it was) when God (Elohim =" Aries in summer) overthrew Sodom and Gomorrah (winter), i.e., it shall remain as it was when Sodom and Gomorrah were overthrown. The question will naturally arise: What was Babylon's condition at the overthrow of Sodom and Gomorrah? Was Babylon the same as Sodom and Gomorrah? Of course, the ordinary reader thinks it was destroyed as were Sodom and Gomorrah, and the text seems to bear out that idea. If destroyed as Sodom and Gomorrah were, then must the same phenomena have happened. There must have been a shower of fire and brimstone, and somebody's wife must have been turned into a pillar of salt, etc. (see Gen. 19, for the details). Again: If it was to remain as Sodom and Gomorrah, then, since there are left no traces of these cities, there can be none of Babylon. This idea is well supported by Dr. Adam Clarke, who relates - "that by the concurrent testimony of modern travelers, no remains, not the least traces of these prodigious works, are now to be found " (comment, in loco.) Babylon (bab = gate; el = ram; on = Sun, the gate of the Ram-Sun, or Eloh = winter solstice) was a mythological city, like all Bible cities. The name may have been transferred to Earth, as in other instances, Heliopolis (Sun-city), etc., for example. Of course, time past can "never be inhabited," except by creatures of the imagination; "doleful creatures," as satyrs, etc. The owls or ostriches must be left out, as they are not mentioned in the Hebrew text.

What Christians like you fail to accept is that while a Gentile may accept whatever he chooses to believe in, no Jew could accept Jesus even if he would perform all the miracles in the world, because the Torah (Old Testament) is our covenant with God, and it states explicitly in Deuteronomy that if at any point in time, someone tells you to change even one of its laws, he is a false prophet and shall be rejected out of hand - even if he performs miracles before you. So that is certainly the case if he tells us to discard most of the Torah's laws! Secondly, you all run around asking how we could not recognize verses in Isaiah that you see as referring to him. For us, this cannot be farther from the truth, for two reasons: 1) It indeed says he will be the Prince of Peace," but what peace did Christianity bring, other than 2 millennia of wars and brutal persecution of Jews led by the very Christian churches? 2) The many chapters in the Prophets describing the Messianic era state that immediately upon his revelation, he will gather all the Jews from among the nations to which they had been exiled, cause them to repent, and return them to Israel. Jesus died when Jews had a Temple and were in their land, and less than 50 years later, we were exiled into the nations - an exile that has yet to end 2,000 years later. So please don't go around befuddled as to why we accepted Solomon but not Jesus.

It all means nothing, as long as you cannot explain the explicit statements in both the Torah and the prophets that refute accepting anyone who acts in that manner, let alone that the very idea of turning a human being into a partner of God is utterly anathema to what the Torah states explicitly numerous times. If you have answers to all that I wrote, then I will respond. Otherwise, you are free to believe whatever your heart wishes, but no Torah abiding Jew can even consider accepting that for a second.

This proves there was a link between South Arabia and Jerusalem. However, it does not provide evidence that the vessel contained the gift of incense from the Queen Sheba to King Solomon. I would think that whatever the Queen gifted to Solomon, it would have been extremely extravagant. Why? Because she wanted to see for herself the wisdom and riches that she heard about from others. Considering her importance within the region, it would had to have been stories of unimaginable riches, splendor, and above all- wisdom; that had never been seen before, that would have prompted her to make such a journey. Therefore, all gifts would had been thoughtfully considered and presented in a highly aesthetic manner. Incense is delicate and personal, whether for a temple or home. It would not be given in a large, undecorated clay pot- to the wisest, wealthiest King in world history.

So in the case of the Holy incense in the Holy Temple, it was offered up twice per day on the Golden altar. The incense was produced on a small industrial scale for daily use, and 6 fold use on Yom Kippur in the Holy of holies itself. And one does not have to search very hard for the establishing trade aspect of the Queen of Sheba's visit. In the 2nd verse immediately after she is mentioned in 1st Kings, it says the following: ב וַתָּבֹא יְרוּשָׁלְַמָה, בְּחַיִל כָּבֵד מְאֹד, גְּמַלִּים נֹשְׂאִים בְּשָׂמִים וְזָהָב רַב-מְאֹד, וְאֶבֶן יְקָרָה; וַתָּבֹא, אֶל-שְׁלֹמֹה, וַתְּדַבֵּר אֵלָיו, אֵת כָּל-אֲשֶׁר הָיָה עִם-לְבָבָהּ.2 And she came to Jerusalem with a very great load of goods, with camels that bore * (perfumed) spices and gold very much, and precious stones*; and when she was come to Solomon, she spoke with him of all that was in her heart. Sheba = seven = Libra an Air/Juno sign. Israel, like Joab, is the four constellations of Leo (Fire/Jupiter), Virgo (Earth/Vesta), Libra (Air/Juno), and Scorpio (Water/Neptune). The rider of the black horse is Juno/Libra. See Isaiah 9.14-15, where Israel (summer) is described as these four constellations which represents Jupiter/Ether (he absorbed all into himself).
