Here in the Netherlands there isn't much rock; only soft peaty/muddy terrain. I bought the Inov-8 mudclaws for less than 20 quid from someone who had bought and tried them. They only put 5 miles in the pair, so they were more or less brand new. I'm so so happy with them! I use the mudclaws ever week in off-road training sessions and they were my go to shoes for an obstacle course race near Amsterdam a few weeks ago. Next week I'm taking the mudclaws abroad for a fell race, I'm so stoked!

Nice video, thanks. The only thing missing is mentioning the heel drop on each shoe, these lot vary massively and its quite an important piece of information 🙂. Good video though!

I'm doing lots of Cross Country races over 8-10km and I have Inov-8 x-talon 212 which are fantastic for the mud, very light but I find that there is minimal to no cushioning and my calves and Achilles are ruined afterwards. Looking for something that I can still race in but gives more cushioning. Can you let me know what your choice would be? I was just about to invest in some Saucony Peregrine 11 but just viewed this video and I'm now thinking they could be a little heavy? I'm a sub 16 min 5k runner so speed is important to me but need the cushioning as I've got older 😬

It's a tricky one for sure! I wouldn't love to race in the Peregrine myself over 8-10km, but it wouldn't be terrible, and it is more cushioned for sure. I've done longer muddy races in that shoe and it was great. I'm using the Adidas Terrex Speed SG myself this season so far and liking it a lot. It's lighter than the Peregrine and def fast enough for racing, the grip has been great (though we're not into the muddiest bits of the season just yet) and I took it out for 90 mins easy yesterday and it had enough cushion for me on forest trails. I wouldn't call it cushioned per se, but maybe a slightly more protective option than the Inov8s.

Looking for something for muddy trading but can’t afford any of these. Bought a pair of Merrell Skyfire shoes for £50 and upper has fell apart after 50 miles. Have also tried Salomon but can’t get along with the speed laces. Could you recommend anything for someone on a budget of less than £75, please?

Hi Nick, are the talon g235s ok for cross country racing?

What running shoes would you recommend for kids? My daughter has just begun running for her school cross country team. Its often quite muddy. They ask them to run in football boots but I really want to get her something that will help her running. Any advice? She is 9 years old.

Junior specific shoes: Inov-8 Junior X-Talon 212 Classic or Walsh Junior PB Elite Trainer, both available from Pete Bland Sports. The Adidas Terrex Speed Pro SG is a really popular fell running shoe at the moment & would be the one I'd recommend, they are available in UK3.5 & above.

I had a pair of Salomon 4s that came up small, do they run “true to size”.
@TheRunTesters4 жыл бұрын
Hi! The 5 were true to size for me and a little more comfortable around the toe box than the 4. Might still be worth trying a pair on though (tricky right now I know!), as I also wore my normal size in the 4 and although it was tighter than the 5, it was still fine for me.

when i go for a trail jogg after rain mud keep sticking on my shoe sole and makes them heavy. any tip to avoid that?
@TheRunTesters3 жыл бұрын
Sadly not. It’s one of those things. Shorter lugs catch less mud but offer less grip.

Hey, I Need Your Help!!! i'm going to do entry test for joining the police, and one of the test is shuttle run, the test is going to be on a football field, so i really need to find a gripy shoes for the shuttle run so i don't slip and comfy enough for endurance run, which one do you think is recommended?? Thanks btw. @The Run Testers.
@TheRunTesters3 жыл бұрын
Hi, this is a great question but a lot could depend on how wet it might be. If it’s properly muddy you might actually be better off in football boots to nail the turns. We’ve got a muddy run shoes vid on the channel that might help too.
@novavin11403 жыл бұрын
@@TheRunTesterswell, you see, we aren't allowed to change our shoe, that's why i'm looking for shoes that is comfy and gripy because i have to run on asphalt for endurance test, so football shoe is definetly out of the game

Gosh I can’t understand his English, I needed to put the subtitles/cc ON and it was even worse, seems like the auto generated subtitles are even more confused than me 😂
