It was lovely before restoration. It looks tarted up with that shiney interior.

The tar finish inside has totally wrecked this old gem....it would never have had that finish in the first place, leather buckets were designed for sand and didn't need to be waterproof.

That tar finish is horrible looking lol he could of clear coated the inside and keep it looking old

Awful!! The tar is a really bad solution. Nobody is ever going to use this for carrying water so it doesn’t need to be watertight. It probably did have tar-lined years ago but to restore it so it’s all shiny inside but lovely and mellow and faded on the outside is bonkers. I’m normally a fan of Drew’s leather chap, Martin Ashworth’s work but he’s mucked this fire bucket up good and proper (apart from the good repair job to the handle) - he should have left well alone
