What he turned it into was an XK120 with a coke bottle curve, not a 150, which is straight. What get me is he bought it for a grand and hope to sell it for 4-5 grand, how much did he pay the bloke who coverted it?

TV money, in this case. Most of these projects don’t seem to add up, i.e. they probably wouldn’t under normal circumstances.

The piece was an Austin J40, it could be restored, renovated , or used for original parts. Instead it has been faked. As the dealear said he paid a £1000, then the cost of mutilation, what is he going to tell any propective buyer? If he tries to pass it as genuine, he lying, if he tells the truth, it's a worthless botch any real collector wouldn't touch with a barge pole.

He would have lost money on the deal. Its obvious that he's butchered a j40 pedal car to produce a fake replica. It would have been worth more if he'd kept it original as much as possible and restored it as an original J40.
