Hell yeah Ron week!! This is freaking awesome, I like this new style of interviewing people in the industry and reviewing part file's. Your content is always amazing 👏

Thanks! Lots more to come.

I like stuff like this. I am gonna download the bare part and toolpath it before watching any videos to see how mine compares in the end.

Ron's suggestion to dumb down a solid like removing threads is a great idea. If I kept the original solid on one level and copied the file to another level and made adjustments to that one keeping the original file as a master, now having two parts and the size of the Mastercam file doubling would that effect Mastercams performance?

This will make the file size larger, I don't know about doubling since there are other things in the file, but ya, it will make it bigger. It shouldn't have a negative effect on Mastercams performance unless you are already at the limit of your computer. This really wouldn't be much different than bringing in a fixture for simulation or a model to use for stock definition. It increases the size of the file but you are getting a lot of beneficial information from the additions. If you have an extremely large solid with a lot of complexity, your copied solid can just be a segment of that original. You can modify the copied solid to be just the size of the area you are working on reducing its overall size. All in, even if you copied an extremely large complex solid and it made your file much much bigger, this should be a reasonable trade off for the improvements you see in your toolpaths.

Interesting, when I do a machine sim on this it shows false collision with vise about 80% down the toolpath. Strange. Does not matter which machine I pick.

Seems 2021 doesn't like this combination of tool/part/fixture. 2022 everything behaves the way it should. Didn't really test this part much in machsim, we were more focused on toolpaths here.

Just set a maximum depth for the operation. OptiRough, use Maximum Depth on the Steep Shallow page. Dynamic, you can use Depth in the Linking Parameters.
