I despise HireVue. Forced myself to complete one once, but usually just pass up any company that requests that. It's the most awkward thing. I would much prefer an in-person interview, where there would be a natural flow of conversation and exchange of information....and that's coming from a socially awkward person. A phone call, even a zoom call would be preferable. I don't like video chatting, but even a zoom video call would be better than awkwardly recording myself talking one way. I just know the responses would come out wrong and it would just feel unnatural. What happened to good old fashioned social interaction? Just had to rant, sorry.

I declined an interview due to Hirevue. I don't have a problem speaking on camera, but this process is totally impersonal, and sends negative vibes about the company right off the bat. If you don't have the time to pick up the phone to screen me, then you're not a company that I want to be a part of. Companies are losing great talent by using this software.

A lot of people feel the way you do. I can only tell you that this is only getting more and more common. People who opt out on principle are losing out on great companies and good jobs.

@@RamblingRecruiter the thing is the HireVue sort of have become let say not looked at fondly. the whole thing have somehow ended up whit a masive case of HireVue dont put forwards the best candidates but the best liers and cheaters. why should I legit trog through a HireVue interview when I can pay a hacker 5usd to do it for me and get me on the top of the stack. the game can be easily hacked and have been, the I am more like ... two pic test I seen they been as far as I know hacked meaning I as a candidate can just ask the hacker what are company X looking for and hacker will answer they are looking for Y, and then I get the answer to get the Y result. the 30-3 min test vidoes whit Deepfake and just getting the question before(hacking) then I can do each question as many time as I wish cut and paste and then pass it like a live feed video, nervus and stutter well that can be fixed in some software and then passed throught the whole ordeal. so the question comes why should I do it legit when the person that gets put forward paid or knew how to cheat it?

I have strabismus and I don't look good on camera, I got two of these interviews waiting from big4 companies but I don't feel like doing it, although I am very qualified. Also the fact that it will be kept in database bothers me. It should be like disappearing photos on Instagram, the HR should be able to watch once take notes in an hour and then done, it is already prescreening so not that important. This would be more human.

Thank you so much for posting the video! Do you recommend use up all the minutes for response? For example, for a 3-minute question, is it better stop at 2 and half or stop right at 3? Will there be a half minute blank in the submitted video if I stopped at 2 and half? Thanks!

Answers should be as long as they need to be. Don’t pad them to take up more time. If it’s 10 seconds, you might ask yourself if you included enough detail.

Agree what's worse I have one to do in the next 48 hours. These companies are also expecting you to do 40 aptitude questions in 15 minutes.... For me the aptitude test isn't the problem it's the time and the number of questions. I did one and only answered 30... then you start questioning your self-worth and thinking you are dumb.

Hirevue does offer a live interview platform but this is a critique of a pre recorded video. It’s best not to read off a paper. You won’t be looking at the camera and it’s obvious when someone is reading

HireVue booted me out of a job. I know for a fact that they do not have any qualified candidates on their list. The person giving me a referral knows I'm qualified. So why do they have a pool of unqualified candidates and at least one qualified candidate was booted? This is also the second time the requisition has been open due to non qualified candidate pool.

I just turned down an opportunity because of this soulless process. Interviews are not just about the candidate being interviewed but the candidate getting to know who they'll be working for. No thanks. If you can't give a potential candidate more than this, what else is going to be impersonal in the work center. It's lazy hiring.

You can make that exact same argument of in person interviews or phone interviews. An interviewer is only as good as they recognize their conscious and unconscious bias.

Do you actually think there’s any difference with in person interviewing? Look there are good interviewers and bad ones. These complaints are just that. Any criticism of hirevue can be made of in person interviews. It’s all a matter of who’s reviewing it. Many people will look for others to blame when things don’t go their way without ever looking in the mirror. These are inescapable in the future.
