Saw Camilla a few years at the Barbican. She was amazing. Beautiful unique sound and compositions. ❤

Wow this is interview is very interesting, the lady is a brilliant alto saxophone player. What comes to my mind is how did she rewally learned Jazz and saxophone, through scales or licks? as taught in our jazz schools these days???

excellent interview. My only suggestion is you work on sound levels. Part of this is I am on the indoor bike while watching but to hear the dialog I have to crank it and then ads blow you out.

Many thanks. I believe we had an issue with my mic (Jim) and had to do some careful editing to optimise the sound that went into the camera!

the music at the end, is it camilla's?
@saxworldwide28 күн бұрын
No, that's not hers at the end. But what you heard her playing during the video represents her work.

Successful musicians like to say you must practise your scales or fundamentals, but as graduates or post graduate the will never tell you exactly what you should do. I have been in this practise for more than 30 years.

I know her, she has improved tremendously as a sax player.

Camilla George to my opinion met the right musicians for her career in jazz as an alto saxophonist. Go to any jazz school you will be bombarded with scales and jazz licks. In worse case scenarios as a student you would be trying to figure out scales in you your performance not really playing and enjoying your career in jazz music. I play saxophones but not proffessionaly per se but I know exactly how to make myself a virtuoso saxophonist not another teacher. All is easy but needs a lot of discipline. It's been done in the past by almost every musician in the community who aspired to be a great instrumentalists or singers, but that is lost!!!

You skipped something in the story line- your dad was a jazz fan, and next it was a friend of your MOMS boyfriend who had a Tenor. Huh?
@camillageorgesaxophoneАй бұрын
Hi thank you for listening! It was my Dad who got me into jazz as he used to play me his jazz vinyls and tell me all about his favourite players! I grew up in a musical home where my parents played lots of great music- jazz, afrobeat, Motown etc! However it was when I was 8 that I had the opportunity to try a sax . We went to visit my Mum’s friend, Yvonne, who had a saxophone (left behind by an old boyfriend) and I had a go on it! Prior to that, I had only played recorder! Hope that gives you more context! 🙂
