It's not right that they charge ALL ELECTRIC with petroleum. All electric should only be charged with renewable energy.
@imzjustplayin3 ай бұрын
Electric vehicles charged with petroleum are more efficient than hybrid or gasoline powered vehicles powered by oil but only marginally. The push for EVs is based upon the assumption the entire grid and transportation infrastructure will be powered by 100% renewable energy some time in the future.
@hanshansen38853 ай бұрын
@imzjustplayin You are somewhat correct, Ill just add/correct a few things. The electric engine is more energy efficient than the internal combustion engine. EVs charged with the current US energy makeup(coal/oil/lng/renewable/nuclear) emit less CO2 than regular gasoline vehicles. The entire grid and transportation infrastructure will eventually go 100% renewable energy but every % helps with decreasing our CO2 emissions. The fossil fuel industry will fight this with tooth and nail every step of the way as they have done for several decades because it threatens the industry in terms of profit. In the end the fossil fuel industry will be a tiny fraction of what it is now. We will always have used for petroleum products but much less than we currently use.

An EV uses 4x the amount of copper as a combustion engine car. Then there are the transformers and wires that are needed that also use copper. There is no way on earth that the world output of copper can keep pace with the EV transition if the EV mandates kick in. We would need to produce more copper than at any time in human history. It's an exciting moment that could change the game in general...managed to grow a nest egg of around 2.1Blitcoin to a decent 11.4Biitcoin. Two of the bullet points about EVs apply to gasoline and diesel powered vehicles. Those that whine about EVs causing pollution seem to have a blind eye for heavy SUVs being used to cart around groceries. Brake dust is substantially reduced with hybrid and EV vehicles due to regenerative braking. EV tire wear is only increased on those that use the factory tires as there are many tire brands and makes where the tires last longer. I've gotten very good tread life out of a Tesla with the correct tires.

The EV in my garage was designed and manufactured in the US by US workers and is rated at over 400 miles of range. I charge at my home and never leave my house worried about range or charging as there are plenty of chargers deployed by the manufacturer of my car available and, short of the copper thieves and gratuitous vandalism, they’re extremely reliable. Of course, you do run into people driving ICE cars and trucks just deliberately blocking the EV charge spaces to “make a point.”

The Saudis just refused to continue the contract to trade oil in Petroleum “US” dollars.
@dixonpinfold25823 ай бұрын
Absolutely, totally, completely false. They will continue to sell the overwhelming majority of their oil in dollars. Although they decided to accept other currencies as well, and these are expected to be a small fraction of the total for many years to come. Also, most of those receipts would most likely be promptly exchanged for US dollars anyway. (Note that Saudi purchases of US Treasurys have been increasing, not declining.) Finally, it is widely rumored that the US and Saudi Arabia are on the verge of signing a historic security agreement, pulling the two countries even closer together from a defense perspective. Saudi Arabia is not turning its back on the US or its currency. Far from it.

Copper and Aluminum are in all vehicles but it is the Lithium in EV. The battery systems can experience thermal runaway, may not operate or charge during winter, can be totaled during rainstorms, flooding, launching watercraft and such, may need replacing every so often. The cost of these systems can be $40K and upwards. The charging is slow, may cause house fires and is an extra burden on the power grid. Utility costs are becoming out of control. Additionally these EV and fossil fuel mandates increase inflation. Insurance and infrastructure costs are more. Politicians want to pass Mileage taxes. Expect Less private ownership of vehicles.
