Back when the esim started coming out the companies always told me that I need it to have both numbers from the same carrier. Nov 4, 2021 I just bought the OnePlus 8T cell phone Wich is CDMA/ GSM, I have a Verizon sim and T- Mobile sim in the same phone. Works great.
@redstrass22575 жыл бұрын
Lol. The Simcard technology didn't get smaller, phone manufacturers just decided to remove the extra plastic (which made it "smaller and smaller") thus the micro and nanosims (which are essentially the same, just with a smaller plastic footprint)

Another issue is someone like myself like to have two cell phones and I like having unlocked phones directly from the manufacturer.

But with e sim, when someone stole your phone, they cant use it until they go to the step to change the number. Therefor its more chance for us to recover our lose phone

0:59 The SIM doesn't "receive" or inject the "signal" into your phone! that would be the Rado-Modem CHIP, The SIM is just a low-capacity memory that contains the data needed to connect to your carrier and identify you as a user, in the past, you can also store texts and contacts. Is a carry-over technology from the first era of cellphones is not really needed nowadays.

Wait, how do you make call to switch plan? Let's say, if you have a US plan and you go to UK, and you want to switch to UK plan, you are calling a UK number using US plan, and that would be expensive. Wouldn't it be nice that you can just get a sim card at the airport and swap without hassle like needing to call someone?
@maninthecab4 жыл бұрын
Jack Yu That’s exactly what I do - I’m in the UK and my normal account is on the esim , when I go on holiday I simply buy a cheap pay-as-you-go SIM card at Bangkok airport , and , Bingo ! , I can make local calls at local rates and still receive calls from home , all on one phone (or choose to turn off the UK number to avoid costly incoming calls ) .

I currently work at T-Mobile and I'm finding out that my customers having a hard time switching like to know more info. But how can a provider like myself learn more about SIM cards and how they work. Ive tried researching this since my last job with a different provider.. what i want to know is the difference between international and domestic sim cards and what all the acryonyms mean
@meyou96516 жыл бұрын
I learned alot....thank you....I too, dont want to call to speak with someone from my company to get my info switched over from old to new phone AND I sure Dont want to talk to the company when traveling abroad to get a new number then call back, before i leave to have my old number reinstated..... just give me a good old SIM card. Sounds like a👎 for an eSIM.

The point is that you don't save any space, the dual sim feature will have a slot for one SIM card n the other for esim
@maninthecab4 жыл бұрын
Raymond Lee Err , no , there is no slot for the esim ; it’s simply a module in the installed firmware.

SIM cards don’t “inject” any signal to the cell phone... lol
@diehardAMD4 жыл бұрын
I bet if I look it up.... I bet you're wrong. I bet it matches the hard programmed IMEI number (located in the phone's hardware) to the carrier's provided number that provides an account for encoding over the CDMA-type or GSM-type carrier waves for subscriber identification. It acts as a "middle man" like he said between the device and owner to the carrier and tower.

eSIIM sux. It's a huge step back. It's just like old analogical phones, were you need to contact the operator to activate the service.... Is too much sacrifice to gain a little space. Much worse than remove headphones jack.
@peternielsen78556 жыл бұрын
Dropping the physical slot would indeed suck. However, offering eSIM + nanoSIM like the iPhone XS does is the way to go. Prevents disaster like losing the SIM tray in-flight while swapping SIMs. Now we finally can have two operators and switch in the phone settings instead of playing with fire...

Is it possible for the carriers to develop the apps which allow users to inject their numbers through these apps?

looks too greedy for them to do so even phone plan customization is not an option for them for cheap and fair value for your dollar. just look at usmobile where u can customize plan which is the only carrier who offer s it in us and globe telecommunication in Ph.

@rolandwelz4 жыл бұрын
Not at all accurate. When properly implemented you can swap, add, switch, and store multiple carriers with ease. An e Sim is programmable so you can just add a new carrier by adding a new sim code although right now not all carriers are setup that way. An eSIM may be provisioned remotely, but end-users can add or remove operators without the need to physically swap a SIM from the device, just add a new SIM code. No phone calls needed.
