Basis whatever information was made available by the media on the Coromandel Express CRS report it seems that the automatic interlocking system for the local railway station was compromised since 2018 due to some blotched up repair by the signalling team to the facing point for x -over to up loop line and since then it seems that the signal team have been discretely tampering with the point signal .... hard to believe that these signal engineers never felt the need to rectify the defective point, instead employed some stop gap solution which could have only compounded the operational risk for traffic on UP main line. It is equally hard to believe that these signal engineers were unaware that their actions had compromised the operational safety under following conditions : (a) The Automatic Interlock System which is basically an operational safety device was compromised. (b) The signalling system had lost its auto online status due to the manual fingering by the engineers (c) These signal engineers themselves are unsafe engineers capable of only " jugaar" and as they lack knowledge and skill set to understand the inherent risk and the outcome of highly unprofessional behaviour. .

An interlocking electronic point system can be 99.9 per cent can be safe & correct, which means 0.1 is still unsafe conditions! That means that 0.1 per cent unsafe conditions in the manually system was eliminated, in other words, the manual system was 100 per cent safe ! So, even with advanced technology, the chance of an error exists. Only the manual system was 100 per cent safe! On moral grounds the technocrat turned bureaucrat turned politician, railway minister Vaishnav MUST RESIGN !
