How strong are their jaws? Have you ever been accidentally bit? Can they do serious damage if they wanted to? I know they’re not snapping turtles but was curious about that. Also, would they bite in a self defense situation or is their shell mainly their protection? They seem to be very peaceful, chill creatures. Oh and one more thing lol, what’s up with the noise the males make when they’re humping/mating? Is that the only time they make audible sounds from their mouth? What do you think it’s for? Like, an expression of it feeling good lol or asserting his dominance? 🤣

I’ve come across your Tiktoks and videos and it’s made kind of want to get a tortoise, but when I suggested to my mom that we could maybe get one some day when we could handle it, she said our 2 cats would eat it and how she had a friend who owned a little mini tortoise and a cat, who one day came home to nothing but an empty shell. I probably won’t get any of these tortoises you have until I’m an adult living on my own, but I would also be owning cats by then. So out of curiousity, and possible speculation for the future, would I have to worry about my cats with this breed of tortoise?
@TheTortoiseWhisperer4 жыл бұрын
I mean from that I would worry yeah.. but my pets were puppies when they met the tortoises so they grew up with them just fine
@knightgabriel13114 жыл бұрын
TheTortoiseWhisperer is there a certain age you should buy them at when they are big enough to no longer be seen as prey by cats?
@TheTortoiseWhisperer4 жыл бұрын
@@knightgabriel1311 Yeah I would maybe get one that is about the size of a basketball and I'm sure the cat would get used to it, that way it can't pick it up with it's mouth or anything, when they're the size of a basketball, they're about 6-8 years old
