What a terrible but all too typical gloss on Brexit. It touched on everything but the British people, the real agent of the Brexit vote. It's so puerile that it can only be an expression of arrogant conceit. No, Vanity Fair, the real reason Brexit happened is because the British people had never been properly asked for it's consent to cede significant POLITICAL sovereignty to what the people had originally been told was going to be a Common MARKET. As UKIP started to gain more and more public support for a referendum on the matter, the mainstream parties had to bow down to what essentially was public pressure. The day duly came and the electorate made it's decision to leave. There was no talk whatsoever at that time of a hard and soft Brexit. Hard Brexit was a term invented by recalcitrant Remainers trying to minimise the effects of Brexit as much as possible by portraying Brexiteers as immoderate hardliners. It's all very simple: We voted to leave the EU after months of warnings about what that meant, which included the government sending a booklet on the subject to every household in Britain. It said: 'No other country has managed to secure significant access to the Single Market, without having to: • follow EU rules over which they have no real say • pay into the EU • accept EU citizens living and working in their country' This warning notwithstanding, the electorate put restoration of political sovereignty first. They especially were not voting to pay any more significant amounts of money into the EU, or to anymore accept free movement of EU citizens into the UK. If that means 'hard' Brexit, then the electorate's vote took that risk. It's ludicrous to say, as some do, that we need another vote to decide between 'hard' and 'soft' Brexit. The ultimate desired prize was always sovereignty, not business as usual. kzbin.info/www/bejne/h3jMZYOjnLSXl8U

Watching this in 2021 when UK is spinning faster and faster - No competent workers to fill the vacancies. Tax rise to pay for all the Tory mismanagement of PPE and other contracts given out to their Donors without getting much back. UK has no Vets nor enough custom people to do the checks so EU agrees to extend the 'grace period' even though it might be streatching WTO rules. No say in European court. No lugano membership. No working relationship with regulation on flights so British pilots are stuck. Out of the Galilieo program so they dump money into a satellite company who are not competent in that area. I could just fill pages and pages with Brexit problems; yeah, no project fear at all. And you know about that buss: 250million a week to the NHS - well it comes out that UK earned 91 billion £ yearly being in the EU, not loosing money, gaining. (according to research by the CBI )

Brexit is a joke. The only good thing that might come out of brexit is Scotland might hold another referendum and declare their independence and Northern Ireland might vote to reunify with Ireland Ireland. And maybe even Wales would get their independence though that is unlikely. I would like to see England, Scotland and Wales all re join the EU as separate independent nations. I would say Ireland too but Ireland is already in the EU. 🏴+🇮🇪+🏴+🏴+🇪🇺=👍. Be mature with any comments. Constructive criticism only. Let’s keep it civil.
@drdeadred8516 жыл бұрын
I dont know why anyone who wants the UK to remain in the EU would want the UK to split up first. They would just end up being eaten by the 'empire of good' itself, the USE. I suppose cutting up your food before you eat it makes it easier to swallow. Ignoring that there is no sane reason to leave the UK, other than to just make a push to European Federation easier. Why is Brexit a joke? Do you think the UK has fit in well with the rest of the EU? The UK has always been against further integration, if you want a European superstate then the UK leaving it great for you. The EU is only about federation, the UK has always been against it. So why is leaving bad? Should we stay dragging our heels and then have an even bigger mess later on? It not like the EU has time on its side, the Euro dicking over southern European member-states(mainly to Germany's benefit), the appalling way they have handled the migrant crisis and the utter disrespect shown to numerous member-states add up to at least a series of massive reforms(unlikely, most of the people involved in this Federal project are obsessed with it) that would have to change the entire EU. Or it blows up, the EU are potentially going to revoke Hungarys right to veto. In my opinion this sort of action against a member state will be the straw to break the camels back. So if you want a Federal Europe, help the UK leave fast, and get your boots back on the other member-states throats.
