@@letsgofatherI cried this whole episode just because I know what you wanted for your family. To not be able to make her wish come true is very hard. That’s what really made me cry, they are all so young and will be okay as well as you. You both are beautiful amazing parents and I wish you all nothing but happiness and love!! That was a great way to explain to your 5 children that are 5 and I’m sure will see this one day. I can’t wait to see what the future holds for you all. Sending love and hugs 🤗 from sunny Florida ❤

Sometimes people look at children and think they cannot understand things like Divorce. Yet, given a good explanation that they can understand and being honest and truthful, kids can and will surprise you with how much they do understand. I am a retired teacher. I taught different grades but my best was preschool. Your right Skylar, 4 and 5 year olds are the best. They sure can be creative, entertaining and honest. My body would be tired by the end of my day with my students, but my heart was overflowing with love and happiness. You and Jamie are doing great.

The more I listen to Skyler talk, the higher my opinion of him goes. He always seems to say exactly the right thing to the children in the videos also. All the children are very lucky to have such wonderful parents.

Skylar, This was the best video explaining divorce. It should be made into a book or short film to be used for explaining to all young & not so young children experiencing their parents divorce. I'd be lying if I said I didn't shed a few tears. I sincerely hope your children including Shayden and Landon see the video. So proud of the way you and Jamie handle co-parenting.

Your family, @GreatScotts, is also a real inspiration for this world. With the same message. All that truly matters in this life is love - and the safety, respect and compassion that comes with loving each other unconditionally. I’m thrilled to have found both of your families (which is also one extended family) online and to follow along as you help the world become a gentler, more accepting and loving place. Gratitude to you all. ☮️❤️🌷

That was a beautiful post Skylar. I was crying watching it but it was truly heartfelt. All of your and Jaimes followers fell in love with both of you and all of your kiddos so that's why most would love nothing more than to see you back together. But we also know that life happens. What a precious moment with your sweet Daisy Kate, and what a wonderful response you have her. You're doing great Skylar!

Divorce is never easy on the kids or the adults, but living in a home where the adults can't get along is much worse for kids than divorce in most cases.

I went through an unexpected divorce 2 years ago. It was very traumatic to me and my 5 kids. My kids are older than yours but they have basically not had their father in their lives since then. It is really hard to understand. It is really great that your kids have their dad in their lives just as much as their mom. That is great parenting through divorce-it’s just hard when that’s not the situation that happens.

Thank you Skylar, for being brave enough to share this in such a thoughtful, open, and honest way. You are absolutely right-families are not all the same, but as long as there is love, it is OK! Your sweet Daisy so innocently expressed her wish, and was just fine with your answer. You are doing a wonderful job parenting all of your kids-and I know it is not easy to be a single dad. I am thankful the kids have you and that you have worked out a co-parenting arrangement with Jamie that seems to be working for your family.

Skyler as a single mom this is a great way to explain to a child that families can be different but to know even in those differences you are always loved. I truly hope one day my daughter can also understand this. She is nine years old and even though she was only months old when we split, she still has this same wish. I think you did a wonderful job talking to her about this change. Keep your head up you got this! Blessings

Make me cry why don’t you! So lovely. I wish my ‘kids’ (19 and 16 now) had a father like you rather than the deadbeat I inadvertently lumbered them with in regards to my ex husband. And I was also lucky enough to have two parents who loved and cherished me, although unfortunately they fought like cats and dogs and that had a really negative impact on me. Skylar that was so beautifully shared, made me cry and wish I had parents that would have shared with me like that when they divorced. I live about 3 blocks from the beautiful home that was in the movie Mrs. Doubtfire, it was a very touching film that many here have not forgotten, people still place flowers there in memory of Robin Williams now and again. Thanks for being such a great dad!❤️

Skyler…I have followed since the quints were tiny, but rarely remarked. Today I must. Wonderful analogy…and even your first reply to Daisy was probably adequate…but worth repeating often to the kids for reinforcement. I was extremely sad for all through the separation…but now also find peace in your and Jamie’s choices. Stay true to yourselves and keep lovin’ ALL those babes…especially the nearly grown ones!

I’m 42 with divorced parents and I still wish they were still married. I think the big thing that impacted me the most was that no one really cared how their divorce really made me feel. Everyone wanted me to be ok with it…and I wasn’t. I would encourage you yes…to continue to tell them that you both love them etc but also to allow space for them to feel what they feel and to have the space to really share that. This was a beautiful video though.

I felt the same way about my parents divorce until my 40s. But now I’m my 50s I finally understand. I realize now that it was best for everyone. The wish that they would have worked things out and gotten along wasn’t reality. As hard as it was on everyone, it was best that they didn’t live together. But they were both still great parents to me separately. ❤❤❤

You are awesome at making old women cry lol My mother passed away last year, it's not quite the same as your story, however I never realized how much my mom was that person who was taking care of " things ". Keeping my dad happy and healthy, keeping us kids happy and healthy, even we are all in our 50s, she still had to take care of certain needs. I also realized how hard it was for my dad to take care of her the last 8 years and keeping her alive . I am married and have one child , and I do the same for my kid and grandkids that my mom would do. Ya need 50 bucks for gas? Here , no worries don't pay me back. You wanna get your daughter what? Here let me help , I can do it. You did something wrong and have to make it better ? Let me tell you how that works , you come and tell me , then we talk about how to fix it . There are so many things we do for our kids and family to help, it doesn't matter if they are 5 or 50.

Oh wow! I bet that knocked you for a loop! I think you handled it the best way you could, especially for a 5year old! And this video will be so special to them one day. I hope you plan to keep it in a special place, to not be forgotten or hard to find for them in the future. ❤️❤️❤️
