One could also explain the early misuse of the term "Keyblade Master" as the characters not fully understanding what the term implies; happens all the time irl. None of the characters who say it are really familiar with the actual training and discipline that being a Keyblade Master entails, so I think it's fair to assume they just use "master" to say "the person that the Keyblade obeys".

I understand what you mean, but again, the characters aren’t actually saying master at all. For whatever reason, the word hero was consistently replaced with master when they did the English script.

@mezuGC Oh yeah, I wasn't trying to counter your explanation! As we've seen before, there's a ton of things the translations missed. I just like to imagine that is a potential "retcon" that justifies the misuse of the term

I agree with you they kinda show that's the case in kh1 in the scene I see people make fun of for some reason but when Riku says there can only be 1 keyboard master clearly they didn't ever want us to believe that statement for more than a few hours because mickey shows up with a keyblade so they clearly show characters don't know anything plus even if the japanese says hero while English says master almost any character who says it doesn't actually know anything about the keyblade other than it was the key to unlock hearts
