Question. So let’s say I’m sending a full range attack. Or even defending in range phalanx. Would I do more dmg handing 4 range heroes and one army or just use all 5 army heroes? Or is the dmg the same?

One question, 03:00, in that example of range attack with 4 range heroes and an extra hero with army attack (Rose Knight) and she stay in the back, she doesn't hit the enemy soldiers, my question is.. that animation is just an animation or the heroes do actually make any damage in the enemy troops?

So the squad attack boost of the hero applies only to the squad it leads. Correct? Thus having a hero without a squad, how could it's squad boost work? I understand that the other boosts that the hero has below the tactics skill will still be active, but I am pretty sure the top tactics skill that is the squad attack boost that all heroes have, will not actually be in effect if the hero doesn't have a squad of it's own. Thus the fifth hero probably is good to choose one and give it a squad of a different soldier type, to take advantage of it's squad attack boost skill. Make sure it has good battle skills other than that though, otherwise it would be a waste.

counter with infantry phalanx.... its just like how you counter troops.. infantry phal > range phal range phal> cavs phal cavs phal> infantry phal

No it's not. When someone is in ranged phalanx you need to hit them full infantry in cavalry phalanx to put your infs in the back. I mean thats how I would do it. Or even ranged wedge. Just need to put your infantry in the back. But if you are rallying with 2 troop types (inf range) you should hit cav wedge (putting your infs im front, ranged in back). Just need to make your infs hit first.

I have been wondering if 5th hero adds his squad ATK for such a long time, months. Thanks Aeva! Also, one question, I am moderately P2P and I was wondering, when rallying, is it better to use gold Death Knight or soon to be purple Lore Weaver as a 4th cavalry hero? Also, is the squad ATK only applied when heroes grow big or is it used all the time?

DK is better than purple Lore. Hero uses his squad ATK every time he grows big.

This is a great video i learned a lot ^^ but im still confused about one thing. If you are sending a full one troop type army, is it better to have them as the frontline, all pushed close to the wall, towards the back, or off to the sides?

XfireXheartX88 no your main army or troop should be third in row just before seige, and you must send atleast 4 troops for other troops which are not main troops, this way opponent army will start attacking first two layers and mean time your main army in 3rd row will reach to the wall unhurt, that is why i said send 4 troops for other or not main troops, 1 troop will represent 1 squad... i hope u understand my point

Can you explain why sometimes you send an army to attack and they do NO DAMAGE to the wall? I've had times that I even sent t2 catapult (~10k) and some t3 cavalry and inf (total ~24k), rest with t2 and t1... and did no damage to an already damaged (missing 5k hp) wall of a player with castle 19 I guess (I'm 21).

Question: So your army gets split into 4 squads of each type. So if you do 100k infantry + 100k ranged you end up with 8 squads of 25k vs 200k of ranged only you'd end up with only 4 squads of 50k. So does this mean your 5 heros in the mixed army will only hit for 25k troops each and 75k troops are not supported vs ranged only each of 4 heros hit for 50k troops each and the entire army is utilized. Is this correct?

Actually there will only be 5 squads in total because you can only sent maximum 5 heroes to a battle. Number of squads formed depends on the number of heroes you sent. And for each troop type, there can only be 4 squads at max. So imagine you sent 200k ranged and 5 ranged heroes to battle. You will have 4 range squads (50k ranged each troop). One hero will not be controlling any squad(will stand at the back). If you sent 200k ranged and 3 ranged heroes, you will have 3 squads each having 200/3 ranged troops (a little here and there to avoid fraction). That's how it works. So, in your example of 100k inf+ 100k ranged, number of squads formed depends on the number and type of heroes you sent to battle. If you sent 200k ranged and no ranged heroes, you will 4 ranged squads (with no heroes to lead them). This is the only exception when more than 5 squads will be formed. If you add even 1 ranged hero, it will change into one ranged squad containing 200k troops.

@@SirMonk Squads are always formed by the armies you send, not by the heroes. Heroes will be assigned to squads. If they match (same type), that specific squad only will have the 200% squad attack (gold hero), otherwise not. If you send 200 k range, you will always have 4 squads of 50k. if you send now 1 range hero only, than only 1 range squad will have the 200% attack boost get that hero. If you send an army of 4 soldiers, inf for example, you will have 4 squads, each with 1 soldier per squad. If you send 3 soldiers, you will have only 3 squads.

But do you have to send at least some of her troop type to activate her? How do you know her attack is being applied? And which hero stays in the back? the leader? or what? Clearly it is just picking arbitrarily or automatically - you sent songstress as your leader and she got assigned to your squad instead of put in back. I'm still confused.

I believe it is just random assignment. You can actually test it yourself on smaller darknests. Also if you don't send matching troop types with a hero, it's the squad attack that you miss out on not the other stats like army atk, ranged atk or whatever is associated with the hero.

only the 200% (for gold heroes) squad attack requires that hero and army are the same types (for ex. both infantry type). Total of 4 heroes will be assigned to 4 squads. If you send 5 range heroes and you have only range army, which means you will have 4 range squads, 4 heroes will be assigned to these 4 squads, 1 hero will be not assigned. The other hero items like army attack apply just by sending the hero out there.

What is better the f2p hero, I don't know the name of it in English, which give you 50% Def and tp and is range so it give you squad atk or 1 more Armeeatk hero, so you have just 3 range heros, because I have no p2p range hero, to make it easy, which heroes would you take in an full range atk if you don't have p2p heroes

If you're sending 1 or 2 troop types, the specific hero for the troop type would be better than Army ATK heroes (assuming they are all at same medal grade). F2P heroes to use for full ranged army - Tracker, Snow Queen, Black Crow, Bombin Goblin, Death Archer.
