Just as a quick note, STARS ARE NOT DEAD PLANETS, I didn't realize the insanity had settled in that early, but I figured I'd address and pin that here. In addition, Lapras eats fish in the Ultra Moon Pokedex, and Kyurem is rumored to eat people, just small things to note and hopefully people read this as to not be misinformed. Abra in the Sun dex is stated to eat berries in trees Skitty COULD be an ambush predator as many cats actually are Orbeetle could be eating small bugs as ladybugs do eat aphids And many apes/monkeys are omnivores as they do eat PLENTY of bugs In addition, Victini is noted in the research notes, but I didn't mention that it technically isn't a part of the food chain. That V for Victory makes it win every battle and breaks the system, making it rival Arceus The only reason I know some of these now is due to the kind constructive criticism and comments of YOU! Thank you!

Haxorus was all but confirmed to be an herbivore by Ken Sugimori, the creator of the Pokemon. He said he took inspiration from a beak-mouth herbivore dinosaur. It eats dirt to keep its tusks sharp and likely uses them not to hunt, but to defend itself and dig up roots/vegetables as well as pull branches closer to eat fruits, leaves, etc. This may also be why they have long necks (in order to reach tree branches better).

Fighting is more of an herbivore thing because they can afford to do it, if they get injured they can simply eat some plants but a predator has to get lucky to recover.

A great many issues here, the biggest I've noticed so far are saying stars are planets and the conflation of autotrophs with chemotrophs. When an organism breaks down things like minerals of rocks or target specific chemicals that are abundant in certain areas (like sulfur in volcanic regions or hydro-thermal vents), we don't call those autotrophs; we specifically call them chemotrophs.
@KrillikVA6 ай бұрын
That's actually a really good point, I would say that would be more specific for when I made the category "inorganic heterotrophs" as I do have a bunch of Pokemon that would be perfect for chemotrophs in that case! VERY surprised and in disagreement with pretty much all of the "herbivore" picks that are based on the Pokémon being compassionate or friendly. The closest social species to Eevee are dogs or lions, which very specifically create packs/prides to hunt together. I think saying trees eat people is jumping over the worms and mushrooms. its like the same as saying “humans eat grass” because “cows eat grass and humans eat cows.” you see that jump.

Pffft No, thank you! Honestly if you liked this video that much, I recommend my regional ecology series, it is WAY more accurate and in detail. Once that series is over, I plan to remake this video with way higher, more incredible accuracy

Ursuring is shown hunting Magikarp in Pokemon Snap and Eevee and most of its evolutions are obviously carnivores or at least omnivores (dogs are friendly but also carnivores/omnivores)

Completely fair argument that I can get behind 1000% I think the hardest thing at times is making that same argument for many of the dog and cat pokemon but then forcing myself to limit it to the pokedex info first and foremost. In cases like Vileploom, it goes completely against the real life Rafflesia, so it makes it all a mess.

The Gypsy moth was renamed years ago to Spongy moth. The term gypsy was offensively applied to it as it was a non-native species that spread, and has been renamed after the spongey appearance of the eggs it lays.
@KrillikVA6 ай бұрын
I'll have to put a youtube "call to action" card thing in the video to a link on the renaming of the species soon then! I was still being taught its former name and see its name documented as such everywhere BUT with the new name, I'll need to ensure that people understand its old vs new name without erasing the name completely.

@@KrillikVAit's also important to recognize that the g-word is in fact a slur! I am of the opinion that even scientific or colloquial names consisting of slurs should not be said, regardless of if they're official names or not. Other people think it's okay to say the g slur if it's a species name or a person's name (like g rose). Other people don't care that it's a slur, and some genuinely don't know.

@@thederpypikachu9873 I realize with a moment of extra time on my hands, I should have responded to this sooner. I believe I mention it in my video that's coming out as well, but I have since learning this, corrected myself because I was ignorant over this in this specific context. I've gone on my tirade before against the use of slurs and twisting of words such as "Moor" which used to be an okay word until those looking to put down others got their hands on it to say the least. I had put a card on the video through youtube, but it may not be being seen due to youtube settings. As such it'll basically be my continued responsibility to be open and correct it as I know it at least is shown to be a moment of ignorance and not malice

"You can't just not eat for 1 week." Allow me to introduce you to the world of reptile /insect keeping. The brown recluse spider can go for 2 months without food or water and still be perfectly healthy. Constrictor snakes can take days a week or two between meals because of how long it can take to digest said meal. I could also mention torpor, but while that can cause mamals like tenrecs to go without food for months, these are exceptions. And its still good practice to offer food at their regular feeding schedule even if they won't take it during torpor. Also another more well known type of torpor is hibernation.

Ya know, I somehow managed to forget that. I believe I mentioned this during Medicham's segment? So maybe that's why I forgot about all this! But either way thank you for educating me bc I definitely forgot or didn't know all of this! I'm really only used to it for snakes or fat tailed lizards

@@KrillikVA well, thanks, but I don't know how much I deserve your praise. If it weren't for Clint's Reptiles videos, I wouldn't even know most of what I mentioned in the comment I made. P. S. You keep fat tailed gackos? Awesome! ⭐️
