Ok this just went from "Mummy, I got a gold star from Miss Johnson today for reading out the whole Alphabet in front of the whole class" to "I recently wrote a research paper during my 3rd PHD Degree which is getting published in the next Academic Journal of which I'm being nominated for a Nobel Prize" real quick.

Some bonus info on Aventus. Perfumer is Jean-Christoph Herault. Aventus uses a very unique captive musk. The pineapple note is inspired by years of experimentation done by Herault’s guru, the legendary perfumer Pierre Bourdon. Thank you very much George for this wonderful video. Yes we want more of this. I’m sick and tired of top 10s. I’m starting to unsubscribe from most of the fragrance channels I used to follow. You are a breath of fresh Mellisime Imperial.

Now that I've watched this video, I'd say I probably explain Aventus to people at a 3 and I understand at level 4. Fun aside, I cheer a little everytime I see Alberto Morillas mentioned. At level 5 you started speaking another language and I spaced out and started thinking about my childhood summers and had an idea for a dialogue exchange in the novel I'm currently writing. You said "Eternity" and I said out loud, "What?" 5 stars, A+ video.

Thanks Babbs! I mean George. 😄 How silly of me. Shout out to Babbs for giving us a peek into the formula. Definitely agree with the ambrox substitution as well as combining vetivol with vertofix. No question about the DHM too. Herault was a distant disciple of Bourdon after all. My guess is that they skipped out on the labdanum and indoles in the modern Aventus. Hyde-y accords in the base don't sell well to bros. 😆

If the cyclogalbanate doesn't have isomers then it will always be the same, assuming it's not just contaminated with other stuff at the end of production. It's the aromachemicals which might come in different racemic mixtures from batch to batch which could give variations.
@kurush61
@kurush61 Жыл бұрын
Exactly, that entire section was whack.

There are also synthetic ambergris accords which go beyond the simple Ambroxide to give a more realistic (and arguably less pleasant) profile. It won't exactly be "Ambroxan" because that's a KAO trademark and Creed get their oils from Firmenich but every flavouring house has their own version of Ambroxide.
@shpalman7
@shpalman7 Жыл бұрын
@@kurush61 I'm not sure if he really means isomers (which would be when molecules are made of the same functional groups but bonded at different positions, for example if two groups are bonded to a ring then it matters if they're next to each other or separated by one carbon atom or two carbon atoms, or the ionones which differ by where the double-bond is) or stereoisomers (which is when two molecules are mirror images of each other and can happen if a carbon atom is bonded to four different groups); for example, the two stereoisomers of carvone smell either like spearmint or caraway. But cyclogalbanate wouldn't have either unless you're talking about taking the same atoms and made a completely different chemical with them.

A pro using DROPS? Sorry, no, that is what NOOBs do. Pros will use weight and talk about amounts in terms of parts of the concentrate (without the ethanol). Either in percent or parts of 1000 or 10000 or whatever number is convenient for the total of all materials. Also, real ambergris in Aventus? Umm... nope!

I've been under the assumption that Creed uses 5% real ambergris tincture, but according to the book The Ghost Perfumer, Jean-Christophe Herault insisted on using ambroxen. Don't know if it was in addition to or in place of their ambergris.

I know that this vid has only been average in terms of viewcount, but if you're up for it, seeing more of these "explained in 5 levels" would be great, perhaps for some of the extremely popular mainline fragrances (bleu de chanel, Water Joe's and suchlike). Imo this format does have great potential.

“Pro take” needed “dancing moving hands” to make real sense 😬 One of the reasons that I gravitate towards your reviews is because you tend to not only describe what a scent smells like, but how it makes you feel. It’s art and expression, and you’ve historically brought that to your reviews. Fragrances are subjective. Objectifying them too much isn’t overly entertaining.

When you went into advanced territory, that's when I started vibing with the video so I know that's where I'm at. Definitely not in the pro area, but I like the historical stuff, the influential aspects, and then some of the pro stuff like the molecular level stuff is very interesting to me but I mainly have speculative knowledge on that. Really good video though, I think this type of video has been done before but not in a way that's resonated with me as much as this one did where I feel like this actually is representative of the different levels of fragrance enthusiasm.
