Pretty awesome stuff! I do feel this would fall under the "any%+" category (Not any%), which exists with other games, where other save files affect new ones. I know Zelda: Skyward Sword was completely broken w/ this concept. A very legitimate speed-run category, but it wouldn't be considered any%. It would be any%+

Its a cool glitch/exploit but i think trying to justify it as a valid speedrun is somewhat unfair. It would make all future speed runs about exploiting the bug as opposed to playing the game. You are essentially executing commands to complete the game quickly and i don't think many people would accept commands being used in a speed run.
@Sancarn9 жыл бұрын
+xisumavoid And that is totally fine! In the end, the community decides whether the speed run is valid or not. I think it's a bit arbitrary and I'm not a massive fan of "official leaders self-defining what the rules for millions of people in a community are". For the same reasons why A stronger local government is way better economically than a strong national government. Communism/Facism v.s. Libertarianism. In my opinion, classing this speed run as invalid would make most other speed runs, which involve non-native commands, also invalid - if and only if we can do this in 1.7.10 that is. The fact that you can use commands, *specific to the operation system* like force-quit... Is completely ridiculous to me. And there are yet more problems with most official survival speed runs but I will make my rant separate from this! xD In the end I am sure there will be people who regard it as an official world record and other people who regard it a non official world record.
@TheHardRocker21219 жыл бұрын
+Sancarn If there is a way to use this glitch without commands, like other processes, it would be incredibly valid to use. The reason we make this invalid, is because it makes AA and RS (All Achievements and Random Seed), joke categories. It makes any one who runs this have the same time. These runs just take the fun out of running vanilla minecraft. Also, we banned commands for a specific reason. As SDA states, "Using beneficial cheat codes to your advantage, is banned." There force, using commands falls under this category. I'm confused what you mean when you said commands specific to the operating system. Care to explain?
@Sancarn9 жыл бұрын
TheHardRocker2121 Alt + F4 is what I was talking about. Force quitting Minecraft. It's not native to the minecraft environment and therefore is less legitimate than this in my opinion. I.e. if you took a java environment with no OS then you couldn't run starts that involve force quitting the game. I am pretty sure about that command blocks have to be used. And I would disagree. It doesn't make them "joke categories" but instead just shifts the tactics. To be honest, with the amount of RNG in the game random seed, random spawning, random loot... the any% random seed category is a joke in my opinion... But that's a whole different story.

+Sancarn What Force Quitting Minecraft, Alt+F4 or Cmd+Q (Mac), does it just reset the console or game basically.
@Sancarn9 жыл бұрын
HardRocker2121 Yes but that is an external tool. No matter what you say it is something that isn't native to the Minecraft java environment. I understand it's there for traditional reasons because of the warp glitches like pokemon credit warps but it doesn't use Minecraft mechanics to beat the game. It's essentially an external tool - it's not a programmed feature. This at least is entirely self contained within Minecraft not requiring OS commands. But that's just how I define how speed runs should be.

Great job Sancarn! I love the editing! After TamTam released his video I was surprised that no one mentioned that this could be used in speedruns. So I did it myself for fun by setting my gamemode to creative and then typing the commands in by hand. It was fun telling people that I could beat the game of Minecraft in under 30 seconds This had people requesting that I make a video about it., but since it was in a snapshot version I knew it would never be a real speedrun record. I never knew about the "can't change gamemode" part in the rules, so that was interesting to see how you over came that. The ender dragon taking a while to make the exit end portal was something I thought there might be a way around but never did find one. Once I seen your first teaser I knew you would make an epic video explain it much better than I could! =D

As insanely awesome as this is, I am extremely disappointing by you making your own Minecraft speedrun rules, when they already exist here: www.speedrun.com/mc/thread/gq26u. This run breaks rules 5 and 16. If you would like to, I'm willing to negotiate the rules. Another thing. A speedrun which takes advantage of other save files, such as this one, are referred to as NG+ (newgame+). Again, this is incredibly cool, but unless you're creating your own leaderboards, this run is not acceptable on any leaderboards, so I don't think you should call it World Record. If you make videos like this again, I strongly recommend contacting the MC speedrun community at large, and not just a single japanese runner.
@Sancarn9 жыл бұрын
+AwesomeCuber Okay. So: 1. I'm not a massive fan of self-proclaimed "official leaders" self-defining what the rules for millions of community members are especially when the interaction between the leaders and the *entire* community is likely extremely small. Good evidence of this *minimal interaction* is that Loutlot who is "supposedly" the top speed runner, or manager of the top speed runner, for Minecraft in Japan, didn't know of these "official" rules. And rather around this time there should be a meeting with Mojang themselves to define actual, "official" speed running rules at a speed running council in Japan... So I'm not as uninformed as you might think... 2. When I look for a "World Record" speed run I am looking for the fastest way to beat Vanilla Minecraft. Not the "Fastest way except those that involve the use of game large-skip glitches". 3. I can, as I said in the video, understand the use of snapshots being a downfall to you and other speed runners but frankly the rules in my opinion should be community defined. There will be people who see this as *The fastest* and people who see it as cheating. I don't really care for how the self proclaimed official body sees it... That being said I gave many options for you, and the rest of those of the speed running community who don't like this run, to potentially be able to do this in 1.7.10. Feel free to do runs which are more official there :) Finally I don't really care for your leaderboards and I certainly don't feel any need to negotiate anything really... Looking at the definitions of NG+ it is quite different to what this is. NG+, from what I can tell, is specifically "carrying through items from a previously completed game" You don't need to complete the previous Minecraft world in this case. It rather seems to be a blend of many different types of speed run categories like warp, NG, scripted and many others I am sure. Besides, it's why each speed run depends on the rules given. Hence why I gave my rules clearly in this video :) If I were you I would do the leaderboards like they do with HalfLife wiki.sourceruns.org/wiki/Category:Half-Life_1 with columns like: Runner; version; seed; OS commands?; External_tools; glitches?; etc. etc. Then the rules aren't strict and each player can play to the rules they decide. Minecraft is a sandbox after all.
@FrozenPoptartMC9 жыл бұрын
+Sancarn "I'm not a massive fan of self-proclaimed 'official leaders' self-defining what the rules for millions of community members are especially when the interaction between the leaders and the entire community is likely extremely small." This comment is misleading because it implies that there are millions of Minecraft speedrunners, when the majority of the community's participation in speedrunning is viewing, rather than doing speedruns themselves. No one enjoys people who rise to power out of nowhere, but I have known these people for a long time. They know how speedrunning should work (as they have all participated in speedruns outside of Minecraft) and have based the rules of Minecraft speedrunning off of that. "there should be a meeting with Mojang themselves to define actual, 'official' speed running rules at a speed running council in Japan" If you have ever considered what most game development companies think of glitches (and usually a large majority of their communities), you will know that they generally don't like them and try to patch them. If we leave the development of speedrunning rules to people who know NOTHING ABOUT SPEEDRUNNING and have NEVER PARTICIPATED IN ACTUAL SPEEDRUNNING, the whole concept of speedrunning video games will be an absolute failure. People who don't know how speedrunning works will likely overlook the key components of what makes it fun. "I can understand the use of snapshots being a downfall to you and other speed runners but frankly the rules in my opinion should be community defined." Everyone in the speedrunning community will tell you that the whole focus is on a community effort. When problems are brought up, the community works together for solutions. For some reason, the Minecraft speedrunning community has a knack for KZbinrs with large audiences to incorrectly sway the opinions of lots of people. In the case of AntVenom, he pretty much ruined alexANDgame's Enter Nether Random Seed speedrun by falsely claiming that the video was edited. He also claimed to have found a glitch that was found over a year before by a different person. Obviously, you aren't doing any of these things, but you are claiming that "the speedrunning body is not communal", when it actually is very community-based. There is a difference between a development of ideas and one random person coming up and claiming that everything they're saying is correct. "Finally I don't really care for your leaderboards and I certainly don't feel any need to negotiate anything really..." Then please don't be alarmed when people who know what they're talking about tell you that you're wrong. If you don't care to accept how the Minecraft speedrunning community views speedrunning, then don't. But don't act like what you're saying is correct. "Looking at the definitions of NG+ it is quite different to what this is." NG+ is generally defined as "requires more than the current file/save/etc... to complete". If you don't believe that this is NG+, then you should time the preparation (which NG+ does not do). Claiming that your way of speedrunning is correct when it goes against every previously created convention is simply ignorant. "Then the rules aren't strict and each player can play to the rules they decide. Minecraft is a sandbox after all." Yeah, "Can be played on any difficulty that is not peaceful. Glitches are allowed. Timing starts on first input and ends when triggering the End Poem. This category is ranked by In-Game Time. Time out loads or use one of the programs provided under resources while running." is extremely vague and does not EXACTLY SPELL OUT HOW THE SPEEDRUN IS TO BE PLAYED. Minecraft being a sandbox is a terrible justification because that would imply that you could do literally anything you wanted to get to the end (such as creative mode or cheats), which wouldn't be fun for anyone. Reasonable rules have to be put into place and allowing anybody to show up and change these rules is bad for everyone.

+Sancarn I'd like to clarify one thing. One member of the minecraft speedrunning community posted your run in a Skype chat of 20-30 minecraft runners. After a short discussion, we came to the consensus that this is not a valid speedrun. Afterwards, Cuber posted this comment. This comment is not Cuber declaring himself God of minecraft, it's an accurate representation of the opinions of most if not all of the speedrunners. Also, a word of advice for the Japanese runners, most of them that we've talked to ban ALL glitches in their runs. You're going to have less luck getting this accepted by them than getting this accepted by us.

Based on precedent, I think this should count as a "NewGame Plus" category. A normal any% run should be possible to do in a "factory settings" state, and should not require any preparations before the new game is started. There is a similar situation in Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time 3D where you can glitch an item onto the B-button and keep it when starting a new game. An important difference is that in this case, not much is left to do after the preparations.
@Sancarn9 жыл бұрын
+Scarlas If a body were to create official rules for any% that would make a lot of sense yeah. But of course it all really depends how the user defines the rules and how the community sees them. It's always the way ^_^. It's like how in the half life community people use scripts all the time to improve speed runs because it is "socially acceptable" and technically still possible. Indeed. Because the preparations do everything for you...

Emulators are allowed in some old games, as long as it would not be different on the original system. So you're not allowed to use glitches in the emulator that do not exist in the original system. In fact, sometimes a world record using a new glitch set using an emulator is not acknowledged until someone performs that glitch without an emulator. Also, occasionally glitches which change the nature of speedrunning so much, like this one, the speedruns without that glitch become its own category.

It's more like an exploit of the rules than an exploit of the game's glitches. Good job on finding that out, it shows you're good at thinking outside of the box. But when something like that happens on the speedrunning community, I think they usually split categories.
@Sancarn9 жыл бұрын
+Wood Croft Yeah indeed. The speed difference is incredibly vast so I honestly don't blame them. If it was saving 2 seconds they probably wouldn't mind. It's just when it saves 5 minutes from a time which is around 5 minutes long that they have a problem which is completely understandable! :)
@RoseWaterTV8 жыл бұрын
Here the problem that i see with this run in my understanding of the glitch as you explain it. You have the world in which the command blocks are firing loaded during the time of the run. This world was not a newly generated at the start of the timer and did not have cheats turned off. One of the rules as you state it is "you must play on a newly generated survival world with cheats disabled". Because the world with command blocks was loading and possessing ticks during the time of the run did you not "play" on that world thus by extension violating the rule of playing on a newly generated survival world with cheats disabled? I don't know if you will respond as this is an old comment section but i could not help but point out the contradictions i see with the current rule set for this run. Either way still a cool idea and you don't have to do the normal grinding involved with getting a low time lol.
@TheDeafCreeper7 жыл бұрын
If you use the definition of play (engage in activity for enjoyment and recreation rather than a serious or practical purpose.), then it would mean that when using the glitch you are not playing in the creative world because you have no way yo interact with it. If you count "engaging in activity" as either interacting with the world or the world interacting with you, then yes it would technically be breaking the rules, but if you go by a stricter interpretation, then it is fine to have the creative world half loaded during the run.

Dude from the speedrun.com leaderboards here, unlike the others I'll keep it simple. I understand this was done on a snapshot. The run will be considered legit and added to the leaderboards as New Game+ only if you do it in a non-snapshot version. Since that is the only rule which we won't change (we have slightly reworded the existing command rules and added new ones to accomodate for this already). So all you need is a video done on a release version. And yes, this is New Game+ since it requires to have played a previous savefile, and anyone from the overall speedrun community (not just minecraft speedrunning) can tell you that.
@Sancarn9 жыл бұрын
+Izraill - For those wanting to do this how would you time such a speed run? Would the timer start upon the creation of the creative command block world or upon the creation of the survival world or what? I *personally* don't plan to do anything more with this glitch but if some people of your community want to take on the concept and such that's completely fine :) The world is up for download and I will include the macro I used too, though it only works for keyboard maestro for mac :P

The timing would start in the survival and final world, as in a NG+ run the setup time in the previous save is not counted.

This is going to be a bit long-winded, but bear with me, because I'll compare this run to runs of other games to explain the general stance of the speedrunning community. The closest parallel I can draw to this in terms of whether it should be a separate run category is The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword. It's possible in SS to make use of a glitch that draws properties from the third file of the game, so that when you have a completed game file in the third save slot, it transfers certain aspects of game progress over to the first file. That allows you to beat the game right after starting. It's not considered to be any% because it requires a pre-made file, and preparing that file takes longer than the default any% run. The issue that this Minecraft run presents is that it doesn't follow a rule that pretty much everyone in the community agrees on (that is, using beneficial cheats, or commands that you don't have access to when playing the game by normal means, renders the run unable to be considered the main category). A good example of this is Banjo-Tooie "cheato%": it's faster than normal any%, but because it uses cheato cheats, it's not the default any% run of the game. You made an interesting argument about Alt+F4, but the big difference is that Alt+F4 falls under the category of what might be called "platform functionality", which can be a bit of a grey area in speedrunning. It's not a function of the game, but it's a function of the platform running that game. This is another community-specific decision. The Minecraft speedrunning community has decided to allow it because of the many advantages to running on PC and the differences between PC and other versions, but in Dark Souls for example, the Xbox 360 version can warp by starting a voice chat during a loading screen, skipping half of the game, but since the vast majority of the runners are on PC, and the versions are identical outside of loading times and that warp glitch, the community (including the Xbox 360 runners) defined any% as the run that doesn't abuse this console functionality, while the warp glitch has its own category.

+CyclopsDragon Nice and long comment without major accusations. The commands are on two sides for me. We are in a world where cheats are disabled so one could clearly see this as a programming oversight. On the other hand cheats are still activated which benefit the player. So yeah... That's a grey area for me just like "platform functionality" is for you. Thing with "platform functionality" though is you can literally send inputs and alter information inside Minecraft which can completely change the way the engine works... For instance. Minecraft stores things in RAM. Via the console you can go into the RAM and change information stored inside minecraft to get an advantage. Similarly as you can with Alt F4... You're still changing the system / giving an input which isn't intended. And that's ridiculous... It's traditional and goes way back to console games which is why I can see why it is seen as acceptable. But I think it's really iffy, way more so than using in-game functionality...
@CyclopsDragon9 жыл бұрын
+Sancarn Fair point. I'll go back to some other points from general speedrunning agreements. It's generally agreed upon that speedruns as a whole are not allowed to use any console commands or external programs to modify the behaviour of the game. In any case, you can only modify something like memory addresses if it can be done through gameplay, like in the Super Mario World credits warp run. The fact that cheats are activated means that cheats are used, regardless of the fact that the world you played in does not have cheats enabled, and cheats being used classifies the run differently from a normal any% run by community standards. I would also like to hear your opinion on the "pre-made file" side of this discussion, as I stated in my previous comment, as that's also something that people use to classify runs differently.

Would this run count as a NG+ because of the events happening in the NG affect the second save?
@Sancarn9 жыл бұрын
+Hellstenen Hmmm... Kinda... But not really... I think rather it's in it's own brand of speed run xD Because there is no game like minecraft in that way... I'm not a speed runner and don't really know what the definition of NG+ is but from what I can tell "Basically, starting the game over while carrying over everything you've gained from a previous playthrough(s)" - it kind of is and kind of isn't. Because the "previous play through" never actually required a finish... If that makes sense? Like you never actually needed to win World A to execute the commands in World B. So it kinda is NG+ but kinda isn't... xD
@xfrogyfro9 жыл бұрын
+Hellstenen +Sancarn This is exactly NG+. NG+ is what you said, but it also applies to the use of other save files for the speedrun. The general rule used by most speedgames is "if the file is used in the speedrun, it has to be blank at the start." So in order to ever get this accepted as an actual speedrun, you'd need to create a new creative world and run the timer while placing the command blocks.
@Sitron_9 жыл бұрын
+Sancarn Yes, the fact that you don't complete the first world makes it not be a NG+, not 100% sure though. This speedrun sure is interesting, some may claim it wouldn't qualify as a speedrun because the use of "another" save running in the background, (even if it's only for a short period of time). The game 'Sound Shapes' are available for multiple platforms (PS3, Vita & PS4) and have six trophy lists (like achievements, except it's Sony) and if you complete one trophy list you can use that save to complete the other five trophy lists without actually playing them all over again. But just because you use a different save to complete another one in a few seconds doesn't mean you actually only played for those few seconds to achieve the trophies. "*And this is where the argument begins*" The same principle kinda goes for your minecraft speedrun. You use a save to manipulate another. You play the game twice to complete it, and the worlds are connected. Here, some could claim that since the worlds are connected, the time should begin when the first world is created and stop when you reach the credits in the second world. *Same same, but different* The run is still seperate of sorts, it is played in a seperate world etc. In some games, progress is stored across multiple saves. Maybe you find a collectible in one save and store it in your profile and then you won't have to pick it up again. The thing you do in the run could be seen as something only affecting the player which gives the player special attributes when the run is starting. This is totally fine as save corruption is a popular method in any% speedruns, like you said.
@Sancarn9 жыл бұрын
+frogyfro Well if you want to redo it by all means do so ^_^ I never wanted an "official" world record. I was literally doing a favour for a friend xD +Hellstenen It is all very confusing in the end xD But that's one of the reasons I never really liked official bodies that define rules... Just like the law there are many millions of loop holes and the more specific you make the rules the less ground it covers... Minecraft is a sandbox game, there is no "1 correct way to play the game". I take a similar approach to speed running myself. Why do it "their way" when you can do it "your own way" and probably have a lot more fun doing so! ^_^ That is unless you "want to be the very best, that no one ever was" xD

If had to authenticate the run, i wouldn't approve it since you changed the gamemode in a different world and used commandblocks (cheats) to finish your run. If you could get a commanblock in survival without using a different map it would be okay to do so. There are games out there in with you can use cheat codes in savegame 1 and switch to savegame 2 and still have the cheat active, but that is still cheating. I think this is applies in this case too. In pokemon you manipulate the game engine in savegame 1 and not in a savegame 2 so it is a valid run. But that is just my personal opinion and i still think this is a really cool find :)

WAAAAAAAAAIT a second.... Cant you just do /execute sancarn ~ ~ ~ /setblock ~ ~ ~ end_portal to place an endportal IN the end? Because the main slow thing is waiting for the enderdragon death animation... Also It's not a TAS... The Macro isn't used in the speedrun itself Its the same if you would use a macro to do all the settings on a game which doesnt save those Example Pokemon text speed The command cheat thing... Is also wrong The new world has Cheats off... Even tho you could argue you placed the commandblocks BUT AGAIN before the timer starts... In my opinion: No TAS No Cheats AND MOST IMPORTANTLY I quote 1:40: "abusing programming oversights left in the game" And that is true, its a programming bug which alows you to do this LEGAL MINECRAFT SPEEDRUN - Cube's Seal of Aproval
@Sancarn9 жыл бұрын
+Cube You seen my latest video by now? :P That's why I would call it a legal speed run also. No Cheats and is a programming oversight. SO personally I would define it that way. But many people are different and come from different backgrounds so I can understand why others may argue that it isn't a world record or whatever. In my books. It's the fastest, theoretical, way to complete the game, using ONLY in game mechanics, so it's a world record.

Yeah indeed. I doubt it would work from SP to SMP either. It depends how items get given to the client from the server.
@TheTzann9 жыл бұрын
I'm sorry to burst your bubble, but speedruns are done on a clean client - meaning there's no setup before the run, unless it's absolutely necessary (e.g. VVVVVV No-Death Mode). If you have to set up the game in any way then I would hesitate to call it a speedrun, unless you start the timer from when you first change anything (setting up the first world), which is how it's usually done anyway. If you check the speedrun leaderboard for minecraft, it says the timer starts on first input, not when the world is first generated, which seems alot more fair. This is closer to a TAS run than an actual speedrun.
@Sancarn9 жыл бұрын
+TheTzann "but speedruns are done on a clean client" - not in the majority of Minecraft speed runs I have seen. People have many many previous worlds in all their time. I agree though, if an association were to make "official" rules then they would want the "clean install" rule.
@TheTzann9 жыл бұрын
+Sancarn Of course they do, it would be silly if you had to delete all your worlds before you start a speedrun, and it's impractical. But the difference there is that what they have already done doesn't influence the game at all. In your case, you're setting up the game's memory in a specific way to give yourself a huge advantage. While you do start a fresh world, your speedrun requires no skill to execute. Of course the setup is quite complicated, and I admire the fact that you took the time to figure it out and I think it's an interesting exploit. I just wouldn't consider this an actual speedrun, unless you count the setup in the time as well. For your ruleset, it works, but I suspect most speedrunners would hesitate to let this run qualify as a world record.
@Sancarn9 жыл бұрын
TheTzann To be fair since I am using an own ruleset I should probably rename it away from world record. Because that would assume some other base ruleset of other peoples runs. So that will be something I change :)
@MrCheeze9 жыл бұрын
Well, anything that requires a pre-made world is properly a New Game+ run, not any%... Although given that you have to open the command block world every run, doing so really ought to be included in the timing as well.

@Wout123459 жыл бұрын
Nice glitch, surprised so many people already guessed it yesterday, never heard of it. :o It's also interesting to hear about the history ... for some reason I remember you were sitting with us during the closing ceremony, but I'm probably mistaken there. O.o Good thing you addressed the TAS issue, I actually had a question about that. :P I think I'd personally still call it TAS, though I get your point, no macros are used during the run ... One thing I don't get though: why do you kill an Enderdragon to get the end portal? Nothing in your rules states anything about having to kill it, so what stops you from just placing another end portal at your feet? Apart from the macro dilemma, I will admit this fits the general speedrunning rules. However, I think I'll side with speedrun.com and their version rule this time. The term "speedrun" should be defined to be useful, and in my case that means when I search "Minecraft all achievements speedrun" I'd rather watch something like the SGDQ 2015 run than yours (though your video is still worth the watch of course ;-) ). You may find this more entertaining, up to you, though banning these kind of runs by not allowing snapshots seems to be more practical simply for my expectations. Finally, good job on the editing as usual. Not too much to say about it. Also funny how you addressed some of the critiques on beforehand already, as I assume you didn't record this in the past 24 hours. :P

he did throw the marble, but intentionally sent it to a dominos which made it fall. Doesn't change the fact that the brother did caused this, intentionally or not. Sancarn for how the time is calculate of course, in speedrun the speedrun community, they will privilege an ingame timer if he is reliable ( wiki.pokemonspeedruns.com/index.php/Game_Time_vs_Real_Time ) and if not, they use the real-time witch start when the player first gains control of the game ( first input frame in TAS ). ok first off, this run wouldn't make it to any leaderboard that wasn't handmade by the runner, and seeing as to how one of the massive variables of the run is independent of the game itself, i sincerely doubt the board would be made public. second, even if this run made it to a leaderboard, it would not be able to be made a permenant category since, as mentioned previously, it is near entirely dependant on the hardware of the runner, not their ability to execute the inputs. and for the idea of speedrunning not being communal, i can say without being a direct contributor that the community has been around for close to 4 years, even from the time of this video's upload date.
@Sancarn6 жыл бұрын
> "this run wouldn't make it to any leaderboard that wasn't handmade by the runner" I don't see why that'd be the case... > "it is near entirely dependant on the hardware of the runner" Not true at all. The number of gameticks required to execute the run is constant. Sure the amount of "real time that passes" is longer dependant on the hardware, but that's true of any speedrun. For example, the speed at which the nether loads can be anywhere between 3 and 10 seconds on a majority of PCs. I'd therefore expect most speed running mods to not include nether generation time.
@Gudbauc206 жыл бұрын
for the case of leaderboards being handmade, it is simply because of the fact that there is well established categories, all of which have no commands influencing the run, or are only a safety net for marathon runs, such as the all achievements set seed. and the fact of the matter is that any igt timer will still be counting during loading screens, which is what will appear when entering the end, thus unless you want to count the individual frames out of that loading screen this run would have hardware variables be a decent portion of run capability.
@Sancarn6 жыл бұрын
Yeah I get that, but the point is, this is still a speed run, and it could be seen as a 'world record', because in the end, it is the fastest way to complete Minecraft. I'm not saying it would or should be on the leaderboards, because frankly I don't give a toss about the leaderboards (and from what I can tell, they don't give a toss about me either!). Minecraft is about having fun, and I have fun by exploiting funky game mechanics. In the end, any speed run is about setting up a basis of rules, and seeing how fast you can finish the game within that ruleset. Some people like stricter rules, and that's absolutely fine! But in the end, that doesn't stop this being any less of a speed run than the guy who uses a game crash glitch to get extra enderpearls... They're just running on different rulesets. This is why glitchless speedruns became a big deal. And it's why pokemon speed runs, where people play the whole game, are still a thing. If someone is looking for the fastest way to complete minecraft, they're likely to look at the speed run community. Unfortunately in this case, they won't find the fastest way to complete minecraft. That's the sad part in my opinion. I was recently curious myself what the fastest way to complete Celeste was (kzbin.info/www/bejne/mZzac5-mfpetfrM). Quite hilarious that that was left in the game imo. Ofc other Speedruns are still impressive ofc... kzbin.info/www/bejne/r4PUpGyQbKZ5l6M. Just because these 'alternative rulesets' exist doesn't make other forms of speedrun not-impressive. They're just different. > The fact of the matter is that any igt timer will still be counting during loading screens. Oh really? That's a bit stupid imo... Speed running is meant to be all about skill... But if that is the case hardware really matters... So that's a bit stupid imo.

An A press is an A press, you can't say it's only a half. (anyone understanding this joke? No?)

The only reason I think your speedrun doesn't count is because you used a snapshot...

that's well within the rules

I just finished a video on inter-world redstone, so I'm feeling deja vu. EDIT: It was the one you showed in this video! Coincidence? EDIT 2: Can I add you on skype? EDIT 3: You could use this for dilation in 1.7.10: kzbin.info/www/bejne/aZmcpJailt53sNU

+minerguy31 "just finished a video on inter-world redstone" - seriously?! xDD That's intense... xD And yeah true that! We should for sure try to at least do it in 1.7.10... It may be possible in the end! :D

+Sancarn XD Ooooh Btw I suggest you look into faction servers…you may not like it, but there's DEFINITELY a lot of innovation you could bring.

cplnerf LOL I wonder if this glitch worked from SP to SMP... I doubt it but that would be hilarious... xD As for factions, I may look into it sometime... It depends whether the idea becomes stuck in my mind at all :P

+Sancarn oh you'd love it! Lots of TNT, lots of glitches, lots of teamwork, lots o' fun! You can even use slime missiles to wreck bases! (You can't push into claimed land, but you can pull!) If you do; tell me ;)

+Sancarn what about multiple servers running on the same computer?

Way to break your own rules, using A second world. Your speedrun should start at the creation of the Command World, since You must be in game to set up your glitch. Impressive, But your run is invalid as per your own rules.

The rules mean, that the timer starts when the speedrun world is generated, and the command block world isnt the speedrun world ._.
