White Widow He said it was a medium load in the cannon. The acceleration in the cannon is certainly very fast. But it's over the length of the barrel. When it hits the wall it will decelerate at much higher G's and the casing will deform. Probably a very well tuned explosive

Explosive shells essentially have a percussion device inside them that ignites the inner charge when crushed, such as on impact.

Explosives are all unstable to an extent. It is just a question of how much added energy (and what type) is necessary to get it over the stop. Most likely it is stable at room temperature but once heated a small portion of it will become unstable and pressure sensitive so that the added compression sends it over the hill.

the rock gave off a more dirt coloured plume while the explosive was a more orange colour. i also think it was tannerite, it fits the description he gave, except for the harmful for your skin bit, not sure what he would have used for that.

@@vipsnap2707 absolutely sure there was no explosive projectile in the barrel. But there was some projectile in there (considering the recoil). But ok I am speculating on the quality of the canon. Just saying I always make sure no vehicles or pets (or people) are in close proximity when I fire regular rifles shotguns or pistols down range. Especialy in a 180 degrees ark in front of the muzzle, more if its a serious caliber with a substantial brake. Once almost got blinded by the debris kicked up from a shooter next to me firing a .338 lapua with a barett style break.
