It started for me with gunshots and explosions. However it has now moved onto voices, first of all indecipherable, almost alien, of late it's been actual words I hear. Last night just on the cusp of sleep I heard the word "damn". At first I was terrified and would turn all the lights on but now I don't even bother opening my eyes, I'm so use to it.

Mercifully, I have only had one EXTRAORDINARILY loud crash wake me (I thought something hit the house), but have heard knocks, gun shots, a dog barking (in my bedroom - I don’t have a dog), talking (right in front of my face, but it wasn’t me), have had the sense of seeing a light flash outside of one closed eyelid only, and recently, while waking up, felt a firm “peck” on the left side of my forehead, (I was sleeping alone), I opened my eyes and glanced up, and saw not just my ceiling fan, but a “figure” on the ceiling next to it which I can only describe as an elongated “banjo” (no neck), with about thirty strings and a small rectangle on each end. The figure then faded and I was then fully awake. I’m surprised at the VOLUME and INTENSITY of the ONE loud crash incident, juxtaposed with so many other quieter “events”. Not complaining! The crash caused me to sit bolt upright in bed, eyes bugged open, and still hearing “debris crashing” for probably a full minute while “awake” (presumably awakening).

I just had that, I mildly woke up in the morning and after that when I tried to fall asleep 4 times these loud noises happened again and again. Between these events, I thought the neighbour was making it because no one wants to wake up early. After those events, I got really bothered because I realized I couldn't sleep again. For my surprise, I also noticed that no one on my house was complaining about how loud those noises was, after some thinking I realized it was only on my room or on my mind. I asked chat gpt about waking up with loud noises when about to fall asleep and then discovered this syndrome. Even when reading about the syndrome, under the blanket with my cellphone, I heard it again something snap 2 times consecutives on the wall or some shit. I removed the blanket and turned on the lights only to discover that nothing was there where it snapped. Those mother fucking ghosts had me to get up my bed shitless more faster than any other thing could have. I know those mf won't scare me when I am fully awake, fucking cowards, I don't have time for this bullshit. Now I'm having my breakfast while commenting this and waiting for these noises to come again so I can make one louder, you gotta teach those ghosts to make some decent noises.

@@ViniciusSilva-um9tm 🤣 This post made me LAUGH OUT LOUD! It’s strange, isn’t it? I heard it happens to some people when they’re AWAKE! How awful. However, just knowing what it is made me feel better. Just a sleep disorder. I read that it’s more common if you sleep on your back (which is true for me), so I’m a side-sleeper now!

I have had this syndrome chronically for about 3 months...and also every once in a while it does still come back. It was awful, scaring me and waking me all the time. At one point I had the insight it was my subconscious releasing deeply held stress, once I had this realization and started to welcome it as a release and relax and NOT RESIST emotionally the experience of the sounds it went away like magic. Give it a try! its free and body and life affirming!

If you have this. try embracing it as if it is a "good" thing that is releasing finally and not a "bad" thing that means you are messed up. this change of attitude helped wildly for me! every time you hear it think and feel oh good its releasing oh good so glad you are letting yourself go....etc.....I would love to know if that helps....give it time....give it at least a week!

I will get a loud bang like something heavy was dropped, thunder claps (sometimes after a white flash like lightning), air raid sirens, and the worst and most unnerving version is this loud high pitch buzzing sound.

for me the sounds always vary, and it always happens as i'm falling asleep. just now i dreamt that i could hear very loud music, but when i opened my eyes the music was still playing, only louder this time as if i were wearing headphones. it's always a scary experience because i can't move to shake away the sounds nor the visuals, which are always scary each time (this time i saw a scary face). i've had this since i was young but i barely get it now, this was the first time in months.

*I just had this last night and the explosion seemed very loud. It terrified the shit out of me. Also, I don’t know if it’s in any way connected to dreams, but I had a very bizarre, unexplainable dream at the time it happened.*

I was working on my laptop when I heard a huge crashing sound it scared the crap out of me but no one else in the house heard it I thought I was going off my head, all these sites talk about it happening when people are asleep but I was wide awake as anyone experienced this.

For me its always same time..between 5am and 7am i can hear this weird buzz which last less than a second.. sometimes it repeats few times and stop and let me sleep, and sometimes it doesn't let me go sleep. Its really frustrating. I just pray and hope it will go away !

When I’m falling asleep I get this sudden feeling that someone or something has hit me on the head really hard. The closest thing I can find is exploding head syndrome but its not exactly a loud noise as much as it is a feeling of being hit. Help?

There is no pain and there’s nothing to worry about if anyone else here reading this has this experience I have it myself rest will be OK. You will learn to giggle it off just like I do think positive thoughts see your doctor, though if you are concerned because sometimes the reassurance of a doctorhelps with the anxiety
