Thank you for listening to my suggestion about adding the rider POV a couple of vids ago. I've just retired and am in a great position to take these lessons to the next level once I get my Polygon Colossus N9 mountain bike next spring. Right now I'm compiling these lessons and locating parking lots and other facilities in my area to practice once the bike is in my hands. I'm never going to be a shredder but I do want to move from vicarious enjoyment of mountain biking to learning and applying new skills in an urban / hillside setting!

I loved your suggestion. I’ll start adding those to new video shoots

Don’t wait. In the meantime, start practicing with an old not-so-awesome bike while looking forward to the new bike. Get fit and routines now, then transfer the skills to the new bike and enjoy even more right away. That’s what I did a few years ago.

@@paddor My new bike is almost done, finish tomorrow, and will be breaking in the brakes and other personal adjustments this weekend and next week in the Big Lots parking lot nearby! Thanks for the very good advise though!

I've become obsessed with getting this right. I'm getting much better with the actual technique. My timing is off though. It looks like I'm doing it right, just early.

I'm traying to learn jumps based on your proper videos but still without good reaults. How hard I have to pull the bar and how strong explode of the lip? Shoudl I have feel had pressure on thumb of hands and jump as hard as possible (as dynamic as possible)?

I keep soaking up the lip and then when landing my feet are falling back into the pedals. Nothing feels right at all. Thoughts?

Are you clipped into your pedals in this video? I rode with clips today for the first time in while and jumps felt more secure , so just wondering.

Likely your foot positioning. Not dropping your heels enough and fully through the lip of the jump. If you take a video of yourself, even with your cell phone propped up on a rock like I sometimes do, pointed directly at the side of a jump and do that, then watch it in slow motion, you will likely see yourself being more flat-footed or tipping your toes forward/down before your back wheel fully left the lip. I've been working on that myself lately. My hardtail I bought last year (after 1.5 years of full suspension) showed me how much my feet were wrong Because doing the same exact jumps on the hardtail, sometimes my feet would come off the pedals completely midair! Tried to do a quick analysis, since I was trying to have a good afternoon at the bike park, and decided to try to drop my heels more, and I realized that I was hardly dropping them at all prior, and the full suspension was soaking up the lip, keeping me from losing my feet off the pedals that way instead, which is bad form obviously, and I would not get nearly as much air or distance... If you keep your heels dipped all the way through the lip, you will feel much more connected to the bike even riding flats. I really don't recommend clips for learning anything, and only use that for that extra benefit when racing or going for that long endurance ride all day long

@@JoeIsCrazyWillman Good thoughts. I think I actually tend to drop both heels as opposed to dropping just front and creating “the wedge” effect.

@@jeromep4148 the wedge effect is for the chunk and chatter, not for taking off a jump, as far as I know
