My neighbor died today and this is the saddest I've ever felt watching these videos. His life will be as forgotten as this place in the future. Tomorrow isn't promised so tell the people you love that you love and appreciate them and stop focusing on material things. That's my sermon for today. Good vibes to all.

Svea was born 1923 and passed on in 1999. Tore was born 1910 and passed on 1990. It seems as there is at least one surviving child or close relative who now is in his 80's. I found some more people alive that probably are closely related as well. Based on what I found, I would guess (!) that the wedding picture depicts their son with his wife. The b&w wedding photo you found upstairs prorbably depicts Svea and Tore. In Sweden you will often find that these places are abandoned because the people become hospitalised or end up in homes for the elderly. These people often can't visit these houses and even less take care of them. When the people die, if there are no heirs, the houses will go to Allmänna arvsfonden. A national inheritance fund. Sometimes the houses just remain where they are. Falling apart as time goes by. Thanks for sharing this with us. I really like to pause the video frequently and just take it all in. It's also interesting to see what you can find online about the people that used to live in these places. The "very strange" wooden thing you found (at about ~30 minutes) was used to churn butter :-). The "black thing" (muff) that you found in the hat box at about 34 minutes were used to warm the hands of the ladies. They inserted the hands one from from each side.
@wide.eyed.wanderer192 жыл бұрын
I was thinking the same. The b&w photo was a graduation picture of their son and the color photo was his wedding pic. My husband is Swedish and I recognized how the graduation picture looks.

This couple really loved their home! You can see and feel the warmth within the dwelling. Every ounce of their characters is on display for us all to witness. It’s a tragedy that this home has been just allowed to decay. Nature taking over. But then maybe that is better than being trashed by people who know no better! It still retains the love and dignity of those who resided there!! Beautiful.

The workshop, UNICEF flags and bicycles and medals are real evidence of this. The old wind up phone was a real joy to see! My aunt used to have one in the 90s and they were just going out of fashion then. I loved it though so it brought an instant flashback of happy memories when it saw it in this Swedish cottage.

Really enjoyed this explore. I didn't expect the house to be as expansive as it was at first glance. If it were not for that one area of leakage and water damage, it looks as if someone could easily walk in, tidy up a bit, and start living there again. I have a hard time imagining that it has been abandoned for about 25 years! Honestly, places like this are true time capsules. It's like walking through a living photograph. Quite remarkable. I am surprised no one has removed them from the home. That large, black fur thing in the box was a muff. You put the string over your head, and let the muff hang down in front of your waist. You then insert a hand into each opening on the ends of the muff to keep your hands warm. I am 74. They were popular when I was young. I had a white one made from rabbit fur. I loved it.

Sometimes there is a small woven rope or silk tie inside to hang off one hand... hers was probably from the 40s and 50s... the origins date back to the 16th century and at one time men used them as well in the 17th and 18th century Seems like they lived a full life....

Домик, как игрушечный. Завидую шведам - какие у них красивые дома. Эх, боюсь даже мечтать, чтобы у меня был такой домик - как игрушечный 🏡🙌🌸

I love old houses. Thank you for taking every detail into account, it is very interesting and nostalgic at the same time. As a curious fact, I don't know if you noticed that all the clocks are stopped at three.

I love to see the care and respect you always have for the belongings of those that have departed this earth. Have you ever felt the presence or seen the spirit of anyone whose home you were in ? Please respond as the subject is very interesting to me. I love and enjoy your videos.
