I have bicycled from Colorado to Missouri 24 times on blue highways with the Bicycling Across Kansas tour. You have to get off i70 to see the beauty of state and have a great adventure.

My recently deceased big brother, Larry Richardson, was a petroleum geologist and Kansas Geological Hall of Fame inductee. He explored these areas for many many years. He and his knowledge will be forever missed by my family and friends.

Honestly, to the creator of this video, thank you ever so much. I am a (nearly) lifelong resident of the state of Colorado, i had no idea that Kansas (our neighbor to the east) was so varied and quite honestly so magnificently beautiful. Thank you for helping me to see that which has been "hiding" for years as i have zoomed along the interstates heading to other locales for various reasons. I look forward to investigating (slowly) the wonders and beauty of "that endless flat state between Goodland and Kansas City", and i will do my level best to avoid using the interstates!

Thanks so much Peter, I'm glad you enjoyed the film! I'm actually a transplant from Florida, but absolutely fell in love with Kansas when I moved out here 12 years ago. Still discovering new places to this day! Stay tuned for our PBS special called Kansas From Above! It highlights even more of the state, and all from the drone. I'll put out a video when that film is closer to airing. Thanks for watching!!

It's really only flat between Denver and Hays on I-70, or Pueblo and Dodge City on US 50. Like he said, it's not the Rockies as you travel on east and south, but there are some really cool areas that are good for camping/hiking/photos. Just be cautious of the occasional Rattlesnake or Copperhead. I love driving back to my hometown! I have often driven from Kansas City over 270 miles on county and dirt roads to get back home in South Central Kansas. I always end up finding something new. Obviously, you can't be in a hurry to do it that way. Lol!

I'm from the Southeast near the Appalachian mountains, and I grew up hearing people talking negatively about the Midwest for being "flat" and not as pretty. This video completely changed my mind - so beautiful! The hills remind me of the Shire in Lord of the Rings. I'll have to visit sometime.

Standing on top of a mountain makes one feel small, while standing in the rolling plains has a slightly different feel, making the world seem so large.

My father just passed away in April and Clark County Lake was our weekend getaway during the spring and summer. Being a lake where jet skis and boating for recreation is not permitted makes it such a relaxing fishing and camping experience. It's my happy place and will continue to be where I go to remember him.
