I think it is so disgusting how so many people dispose of their trash just anywhere.

@Maryposa Drj Lawson Just this afternoon when I was out with a friend and my granddaughter when we parked and got out of the car, laying on the ground beside the car was where someone had left their baby's dirty diaper. Trash can was about 8 feet away. Totally disgusting! Some people really pluck my nerves.

That's disgusting throwing trash in the tunnels! Nasty people. Oh, I vote YES for 3 am tunnel explore :D Thanks for sharing!

That is not tunnel 17. You are in Tunnel 15. Tunnel 17 is down at Sunbright Tenn. and is caved in on both ends.

Hey John. Have you been on Kingston Pike lately? Its probably been abandoned for a long time by the looks of it but the old Ramada Inn across from West Town Mall is huge and abandoned. I hadn't been there for years but there used to be a cool place to dance and everything in there on the bottom floor. That would be a great place to go if you can get in. 😀

Great place, loved the Walk thru 😁. Since you started into tunnel Everytime you got near water dripping I could hear talking. They say water is a conduent for spirit world. Open your imagination and there is all kinds of natural graffiti on those walls, seen whole figures, faces etc. Thanks guys, be savage, be safe, be blessed 💒🌬️🤴🌈💞

Best tunnel explore yet! Nice work Jon. Thank you!🤘🏼😎
@williamh.jarvis67953 жыл бұрын
Did you happen to notice any niches in either face of the tunnel's walls? Such niches provide a refuge, so that any person wandering around inside, could safely step aside in the event of any oncoming train. (The B&M RR's Hoosac Tunnel has niches every 300 feet along its north face.)
@scottcountyboys6084 жыл бұрын
@explorationunknown I live in this area and I would like to just let u know that the tunnel is actually tunnel 15 not 17 and I figured I'd point that out I live literally less than 5 mins away from it.

Is this part of the Norfolk Southern Railroad's Rathole Division?
@oldenweery75105 жыл бұрын
Jon, the insulators at 5:32 have me confused because the standard practice of railroads was to route all telegraph/telephone lines over or around a tunnel so they wouldn't be taken out in a collapse. I wonder how many thousands of bricks were used in this tunnel's lining? I didn't see much falling water inside---or did it just not show up on camera?
@GinisPoint5 жыл бұрын

What a Great Place! No Graffiti! Yeah! Ghost Train??? Yikes! Wonder if You could drive a Jeep through there?
@richdoh54435 жыл бұрын
It would take alot of work and preperation. But,I bet you could make that tunnel livable during a collapse or shtf scenario. Just have to raise the floor to keep dry. But, you would have to smell mold everyday.

hey yall do great work, im a local from this county ive been to it several times i think its number 15 and build in 1877 and the chatnooga and cincinatti construction crews met in the middle they were gonna have a golden spike but a cinncinati jewler didnt have it ready in time it was abandoned in 1963 due to the southern bypass project which bypassed this tunnel and bridge 81 in parrellel with the newer bridge downstream also nemo 24 just 34 minutes after the last train rolled throgh this tunnel the new bridge was brought into service and so ends tunnel 15

Every single brick, laid by hand the old fashioned way, one at a time! It looks like a natural water source, running down behind the brick dissolved the mortar, causing the wall to fall? Maybe it's a ghost train you hear guy's, legend has it they don't need tracks...

@oldenweery75105 жыл бұрын
Yes, I kept wondering why anyone would haul trash hundreds of feet into a tunnel to dump it! Much of it seemed to have come from the same direction the explorers did---so they also hauled it through some pretty rough terrain?
