Long Swamp Creek has been on our radar for the last few years thanks to my dear friend Mike. We know of only one other video documenting this run and coincidentally it was just posted about a week ago documenting a run on it from 1998. So I've made this video a bit longer to help document this run for others. The upper half is kind of back to back rapids and slides, with the largest being "the falls" which AW says is 15'. From the last lip I don't think it is 15' but it does feel a bit taller than baby falls on tellico and there is the lead in slide that adds to the gradient. I was the first to go over the falls in our group and was a hair right of the spot on the lip I wanted go over for the best boof and the lip kicked my boat to have a bit of angle where I thought I might land on the sidewall of the boat but it worked out. Mike and Rick hit the spot I was aiming for just right! S Turn had wood in it, The Narrows had 2 big trees in it, and generally speaking, there was wood everywhere! We had a ton of portages but it was still a blast. If the wood was removed from the drops this would be such an amazing local run since it's just 15 minutes from my house. Solid dry hair run by all the crew and a fabulous day on the river running something either of us had seen or set eyes on before and nor have we heard of anyone running in a very long time. We think some folks used to run it back in the 1990's and early 2000's but no mention from anyone anywhere about this great little run in a long time so what is old is new again. :) Enjoy and if others have run this little seldom discussed gem I'd love to hear more about your experiences running it in the comments!
Paddlers: Mike Williford, Rick Thompson, and me. :) Footage from yellow liquid logic POV compliments of Rick.

That rapid with the rappelling portage looked cool, too bad about the wood. Thanks for posting.

Agreed- we hated to see the wood in the drops! Can’t wait for it to be clear and able to be run without wood. Thanks for watching.

@@SouthernYak I need to get a shorter boat. I have a Jackson Traverse. Its 10'-4. I'm used to getting it in tight creeks and it boofs ok. A smaller boat would be cool. How do you like that Gnarvana?

Great video. Know ya'll had a great time that day. Not so many years ago, going down new creeks was just like that. Get out and scout, before USGS internet gauges vs paint marks on local bridge pilings, looking at he river currents for the best path to take, much easier today, especially for new paddlers. Should have run that twice. One summer myself and another kayaker spent 3 days hiking down a creek and cutting the wood out. I still bring my breakdown bow saw with me on creek trips.

Did u take out at the dam?
@SouthernYak

Essentially yes but just upstream the river forks and we took the left fork and avoided the low head dam.
