Thank you for this information! is disappointing to learn that Dataverse for Teams for have Canvas app option. I hope we are able to import Canvas apps into the Dataverse for teams and change data source from Lists to the tables.

My company's subscription includes Power Apps and Dataverse, but it does not support Dataverse for Teams. I can add the Power Apps tool to the Teams menu, build a table in Teams environment but it does not support building an App/form from the table. Also, apps built in Teams live there forever because they cannot be deleted. My take, Dataverse for Teams is probably the still in Beta and needs more development by Microsoft until it becomes real.

There are a variety of factors at play in how this works. It's hard to know exactly what is going on, but it sounds like there may be some restrictions applied within your organization, either to the Power Platform, or to Teams or both. There may also be differences depending on whether you're in the commercial cloud or the government cloud and the feature availability for those. I would first recommend asking someone who manages your M365 tenant and subscriptions to see if they've disabled anything.

I loved it, thanks Q, can i add flows?
@BulbDigital
@BulbDigital 2 жыл бұрын
Absolutely, you can add flows. The easiest way to do this is go to make.powerautomate.com and in this case you can select your Teams environment from the list in the upper right, then create your flows there. Unfortunately, adding the Power Automate app to the left panel in Teams will only let you add flows to your default environment. It seems like this hasn't caught up to Power Apps yet.

How difficult to connect SSMS and SSIS to Dataverse for Teams?
@BulbDigital
@BulbDigital Жыл бұрын
I don't think you are supposed to be able to connect to a Dataverse for Teams environment with those tools. Microsoft purposely hides the environment URL, etc.

How is it different than using LIST

Ashish we love this question! Let us offer some ways it is different. Dataverse (even the free version) lets you create a true relational data source, meaning you can have 1 to 1, 1 to many, many to many relationships in your data and they work as you would expect them to. Yes, you can use lookup columns in SharePoint. However, these have all sorts of limitations that make them painful to use. Dataverse is generally more "delegable". If you review the Microsoft documentation, you'll find that Dataverse supports more delegable functions than SharePoint. This becomes important once you have more than 2000 rows in a given list/table. If you are at all considering Dataverse and maybe using a Model Driven App instead of Canvas Apps for your solution, starting with a Dataverse instance is going to put you further ahead when you do decide to finally make the leap. The Dataverse for Teams environment can be upgraded easily to a full Dataverse environment. If you start with SharePoint lists, then you get to implement some Dataflows to migrate data into Dataverse at some point. That's just a few ways, there are more. The ones I've included here hint at a transition from a primary objective being "don't spend money" to something that looks more like, "yes it's worth spending some money to make this better for the organization". The picture painted at the end looks something like a Model Driven App with Dataverse underneath. Dataverse for Teams is simply a way to get your feet wet with Dataverse, while you're still in the "needs to be free" frame of mind. And even if you don't get all the way to an MDA, more delegable functions can save you some time.

Thanks Naman! You need to make sure you are using a Teams Environment and that you are an owner of the associated Team. The easiest way to do this is to use the Power Apps Teams App. You can see how this works in the first part of the video. We create a new table around 3:00

I created an App in a Teams Channel so that users could go to the App. I have added everyone to the Teams Channel. Some users can get to the App when they click on the tab at the top and others will receive a message saying that they need access even after I have added them to the channel. Any ideas on what might be happening? Do I need Teams Admin rights?

Kendall, I'm assuming that you're using Dataverse for Teams and you've created the app within the context of the team. The first question I would ask is what is the difference between the users who have access and the ones that do not? Are the users with the problem members of the team, or have they been invited some other way? Are you using a private channel?

@@BulbDigital Yes, I am using Dataverse for Teams. There is no difference between the users that have access and the users that don't. I have given everyone the same access. I have a private channel in which I manually added all of the required users. I have some users as Owners and some users as a Members role in the Teams Channel. When some of the users click on the tab, they able to view the app with no issues, but sometimes on another day these same users will receive this message. "This app isn't opening correctly. It looks like you don't have access to this app. Ask its owner to share it with you." Also, I have the Govt version of Teams and this version does NOT have the option for me to share my App with others. I can only add them to the Teams Channel.
