Love these features ... is it possible to share a loop component or workspace with an external user (for example, can I create a project workspace for my client that we can both access, even though we have different email addresses?

Loop is great for collaborative work. OneNote has additional functionality. I like the ability to have my own unshared notes alongside the loop component to provide additional context to my project. This is similar to saving an email to OneNote and adding more information for my eyes only. Please stop trying to replace OneNote with Loop. I enjoy using both.

Export/Import is not strictly speaking the _only_ way to change the primary owner of a flow, you can just add the flow to a solution. Once within a solution, you can change the primary owner to whomever you like e.g. service account or service principle. Solutions are useful if you want a little more structure around the update and deployment of flows e.g. version control, or creating flows for other people, using environment variables, for example. Great video, nice pace, engaging, nice mix of camera and screen demo. Oh, and you do actually look like Elon Musk! I don't dislike the background music (per other commenters), though perhaps a little quieter and maybe not so toe-tapping! 😉

Living the videos! However, I disagree with the moving away from onenote though. Especially with the ability to add loop components to onenote. That's how you combine the best of both worlds. The open canvas from onenote but the interactive part of Loop. Winning team imo

Very interested to know what "open canvas" feature you are missing from OneNote? Is it simply you like to organize things in a a non-linear way? We are making a video about OneNote and Loop, but don't really see the advantage of sticking with OneNote. We see Loop Components in OneNote as a migration path.

Hi, I found this helpful. A challenge I face is having a .gov account & a bifurcated service delivery model of 50/50 contractor vs. staff. The contractors are often on as guests which is fine for meeting/webinar event, but they lose access to chat or channels after they log-off. Our policy training teams use Zoom still & we mainly use webinars for statewide all-staff not requiring much back & forth because of complaints of accessibility for Deaf/Hard of Hearing staff & their interpreters. MS has improved in this area & the complaints maybe because of not great info or training on best practices of Teams in a large meeting, training/webinar. for both presenters & staff or hired interpreters. Would be awesome to have that handy to share in advance!!

I like the concept of Dataverse, but I can do so much more with SQL Server. Is there a way to create views with Dataverse like you can with SQL Server? We have on prem sql server and the gateway is as slow as molasses on winter day. But dataverse seems like a little more complex SharePoint and I truly hate SharePoint as a datasource.
@BulbDigital
@BulbDigital 5 күн бұрын
SQL Server is very powerful and if you've made investments in custom developed apps, or you have super low data latency requirements, it might make sense to stay there. From the sounds of it though you're probably building Canvas Apps that use your SQL, so that's probably not a valid reason to stay with SQL. Dataverse is by no means a more complex SharePoint. I consider it to be an enterprise ready data platform. The real value realized with Dataverse happens once you unlock your ability to build Model Driven Apps. If you can get there, you'll find that many of the other things you're building manually in your Canvas Apps are just built-in and can save you tons of time. Think of it like an enterprise ready, no code application platform, sitting atop an enterprise ready cloud data store. Can you create views? Yes. Dataverse lets you create system views which can be configured with specific fields, filter criteria, and sorting. System views can be leveraged both in Model Driven Apps as well as in Canvas Apps, enabling you to tweak something at the view level that will ripple to all the apps that use that view. Here's a link to a good blog post on how to do just that... powerappsguide.com/blog/post/how-to-create-and-use-dataverse-views

Thank you for the informative video. I would be interested in the topic of task management within teams/outlook. I find Microsoft has too many tools and it is sometimes confusing or challenging to delegate tasks to others. For example, if I get an email, I can forward it and ask for it to be done, but I can’t add it as a task to a planner without downloading it and uploading it. I can, however, add the email directly to my todo. I’m not sure if it’s a user error (me) or the products aren’t fully thought out.
@EMiller500
@EMiller500 9 күн бұрын
That's true, but the point of this discussion is that if that email was somebody asking for something to be done, then it shouldn't have been issued solely as an email in the first place. The abundance of tools that Microsoft has created are underutilized because the culture of person-based communication is so slow to change in so many organizations.

Emily gets it! We were plagued by an email support inbox for a long time, it was a nightmare. We built an app/form instead that automatically integrates with our task management and it's a night-and-day difference.

The reason I havent taken to using teams channels to communicate is that it doesnt notify people unless you tag them. Once in a while I go look at the teams and notice i've missed messages and half of those are someone adding a new folder or something uninteresting.
@BulbDigital
@BulbDigital 12 күн бұрын
We feel what you articulated is one of the major blockers for people. We would encourage users to understand how notifications work so they are properly tagging people and how they can customize notifications to work for them. We also wish @microsoft would make a few small improvements that would make this WAY better. For example, if the Teams application icon on the right had a notification bubble of some sort when you had unread messages in Channels you have not hidden. Another one is defaulting to not posting messages in the channel when users do things like "add a tab".
@chrijani7
@chrijani7 10 күн бұрын
Agreed. This is also a major hurdle for us. Half the time I send a message in a team (and not a direct message), it is overlooked by half the staff.

To put my take in more entertaining terms: A talented but generally disregarded player is available in free agency and we are ecstatic about acquiring them to play for us. They're local and a lot of the other players on the team are already familiar with they're style of play, etc. They grew up together after all. We bring them in for an interview and workout. They're known for being a Team ;) player, have demonstrated flashes of real talent and intellect, but most of all they're going contribute in a big way to fill the gaps on our team while keeping us under the salary cap so we can invest in other ways. Our management team agrees to draft them. A deal is struck, but unfortunately contract negotiations hit some bumpy roads and the management team ends up having to spend more on their contract. It's ok, we liked what we saw on tape, and their Agent reassures us, "you're not going to believe the work they've put in this offseason already." Training camp begins and they show up looking great and in shape and they've got a new haircut that looks great! Halfway through the first week, when asked to participate in certain drills, they perform poorly and don't live up to the expectations of the staff. Another surprising deficit is they seem to lack good on court communication and lack awareness. They start to leave the coaches wondering what buttons to press to get them motivated. Rough start.. By the end of the week and the position coach is getting nervous, the work this player seems to have put in during the offseason is superficial at best, but they seem motivated? We think. They still do some things well and get along with the other player. Unfortunately, now the coaches feel they may need to look at possibly making a trade...still, nice haircut. My real comment: I held off on exploring other project management tools for our team because I wanted everything to live within the Microsoft ecosystem. Months ago I started to get really hyped about what the new Planner could be and was very hopeful when discussing it with the executive team. I acknowledge that it's still new and will need to have some kinks worked out. But so far the most exciting thing about the updates so far have been the logo...recently (literally last week) my leaders upgraded my m365 account to add Copilot for M365 as well as Project Plan 3 so I've been able to try out useful features that I didn't have access to before, but wow--so far I'm pretty underwhelmed with the Planner experience. Copilot has been surprisingly helpful and I'm excited to see how it can help with my workflow. It is the ONLY thing that's keeping me from looking for a replacement to the Planner platform...but I don't know how long that will hold. All that to say, I'm super disappointed with the product managers--you had a HUGE opportunity to wipe the slate clean. But if this is what you decide to release to show the community that you are listening and are prioritizing their experience...I applaud the self-confidence but this has been a huge miss.

Hey, that's me! I was that lead who talked about Asana. I came to Mitch wondering if our problem was Training, Timing, or Tools. Did we just need to invest in some learning for MS? Did we need to wait for the New Planner to roll out and improve? Or did we just need a better Tool for our purposes? I really appreciated Mitch's honesty from previous Bulb videos (e.g. notifications). During our call, Mitch was generous in listening (as evidenced by this video) then telling us, "Don't wait" for Planner." Okay! We are transitioning back to Asana. However, we are still using Microsoft for many things, e.g. Microsoft for document development and collaborating. Regarding "the money game": (1) I realized that we were going to have to pay for something. There is already a lot of functionality in Microsoft ... if you upgrade your licensing. (2) For integration, there are two interesting options that make the two environments work for us: 1. Add-ons. In Outlook (and maybe other places?) there's an Asana add-on that allows us to create Asana tasks, so we can capture to-dos and communication in our primary project management environment. 2. Teams tab. Unlike Loop (see link below), we can add an Asana tab directly to a Teams channel, and we can link that tab to the relevant project. It makes for a more seamless work experience. Some peole will never have to leave Teams, some of us will live in Asana, and some of us will toggle back and forth. We're still figuring out our workflows. Speaking of workflows: with Microsoft there's a level of flexibility and customization with PowerApps, but I found that too complex and confusing, and sometimes the connections would break. With Asana, many of those things are built in. For example, Forms we build in a project automatically dump into the first Bucket as a task on that same project. From there we can assign it to the right person or move it to a different bucket or project. As for status updates, if I had seen this Loop video a couple of months ago, I might have tried a little longer with Teams and Planner. So for someone who doesn't already know and love a different planning software, Loop might be what you need for communicating with team and clients. Also, I'm sure I need a better understanding of Sharepoint. kzbin.info/www/bejne/mnzJep5vrsSsnMUsi=1Uqhtikkhjsf0wcnn Asana is not the be-all-and-end-all, it's just what we know and like best. There are pros and cons to both. With Asana you can only assign a parent task to one person, where in Planner you can assign to several people. But a huge pro in Asana is that sub-tasks can also be scheduled and assigned to specific people, whereas in Planner the next level down is a simple checklist -- with a limited number of characters. That's a significant difference in structuring projects, timelines, and accountabilities. Anyway, huge shout out to Mitch for knowing what he and Bulb are on about and not just trying to sell me something. I love that generosity and integrity.

Great video! I just got the additional licenses for Copilot and Project Plan 3 and I'm PUMPED to start really exploring how these tools can help me be more efficient with my time. This video was really helpful! For Copilot to help analyze meeting and capture notes, do we have to record the meeting or can that functionality be done without recording?
@BulbDigital
@BulbDigital 14 күн бұрын
I am pumped for you!! These tools have helped me so much already! Within our tenant, I simply need to click "open copilot" in my Teams meeting and that will start the meeting transcription which allows me to use copilot to analyze the meeting and capture notes. I do not need to record (I can if I want to) but just a transcription will do. There are options at the tenant level that allow you to still use copilot without transcription during a meeting, but then after the meeting you can't go back and ask copilot questions about the meeting as there is no transcription or recording available. We have this option turned off in our tenant.
