Def 1 of the best songs, personally, for me. The whole album is crazy good. And then you consider the age at which Fiona wrote it, & it just blows my mind. So talented. (As a side note, I just can’t picture Kanye listening to it & “getting” it. Idk.....)

Fiona is my favorite singer/songwriter of all time, but besides liking Tidal a lot I get pissed why the media treats it like her best and almost only album when The Idler Wheel and When the P... are far superior albums!

When the pawn is my favorite album of all time. It really took me years to decide this. I'm more into hip hop but fiona apple is the best of the best.
@jasoncromwell42066 жыл бұрын
It was 1996. I was a grunge young man living in the South. Names like Miles, Coltrane, Holiday and Simone were unknown names. Then somewhere out of the firmament I heard Shadowboxer on MTV stuck somewhere between Everclear and another replay of One Sweet Day. Shadowboxer sounded like it belonged to another time and place. One of Night Clubs and Noirs. It was at that moment the lightning hit me. The album touched me like very few ever have. It was from there I discovered the rest of those names and many, many more. Thanks Fiona. Just wish you made music at a quicker pace.

I love Tidal but I think 'When The Pawn' is a far greater album. 'The Idler Wheel' is probably her masterpiece; it displays her maturity as a writer and singer. She's just brilliant . I respect her artistic integrity.
@alban97576 жыл бұрын
She matured in the best way one artist can each album.The Idler Wheel, lyrics, voice, realness, her music is timeless and that started with Tidal(Carrion is my favorite). Can’t wait for new projects from her

there's still good music in the underground but you're right - most artists achieving main-stream success shouldn't even be called artists - they are not even in the same league as someone like Fiona Apple. This label Underflow Records has been putting mixes online with a good assortment of newer tunes if you want some fresh music! soundcloud.com/underflowrecords
