cappatogui Without a doubt, Patti Smith’s “Horses” changed my life in 1976 and her art in all its forms continues to inspire me. I love Patti!

Saw her and the band perform the album in its entirety at Pittsburgh’s Carnegie Hall, almost exactly 10 years after I saw her the first time, and it was pretty amazing. Granted, a tab of good acid accompanied me, but my god, for such an old lady, she can really get down. I danced my souls out, especially on “Land”, which has been one of my favorites for years. “Elegy” had me in tears, as she read out the names of more recently deceased artists, along with the older greats.. when she got to “David Jones” (Bowie), I wept. I HIGHLY recommend you see her and her excellent backing band, should you get the chance. Age hasn’t hurt the performance, even if her voice is more ragged. ✌🏼

Please do a psychedelic classic album. Either Surrealistic Pillow by Jefferson Airplane or The Piper at the Gates of Dawn by The Pink Floyd or Electric Music for the Mind and Body by Country joe and the Fish or The Doors debut or the Silver Apples debut or Os Mutantes debut

“Because the Night was made for Lovers...🎶”. The first copy song I ever sang on stage...now, many, MANY years later, my 35yr old daughter sings a version in international jazz venues... 😁
@elaineg606 жыл бұрын
PS: I had tried to get my band to let me sing the songs from this album..they voted me down every time saying they were “too esoteric and smart to sing here in the Deep South”. My daughter ran into even more excuses when her bands sang mostly in the Atlanta area. Since then though, she has sung “Horses” several times...or her version of it.

Albin Lundholm Do you mean that it isn’t in your top 100 favourite albums or it isn’t in the top 100 greatest albums?
@50ShadesOfEndo6 жыл бұрын
William Talbot Well there's no difference between the two, so yes
@williamtalbot55456 жыл бұрын
Albin Lundholm There is a definite difference. Your favourite albums are decided by you looking at the music subjectively ( e.g how much you enjoy it and how it makes you feel) whilst the greatest albums are decided by looking at the music objectively ( e.g I can think an album is great without necessarily enjoying it)

nikosvault Right.... and your problem is a sophomoric tendency to ascribe the most basic reactionary assumption to my critique of a female artist.
