PLEASE READ THIS: I didn't do a good job explaining in the intro why you should watch this video. I wanted you to know that all the other TC Teardrop models are essentially the same as this trailer minus the ability to haul motorcycles. Meaning, at a much lower cost and weight you can get this same trailer, but with a regular tongue platform that doesn't haul a 300lb motorcycle. Everything you see in the galley and in the cabin you will see in many other lower budget TC Teardrops. Sorry again for the confusion.

It may sound weird, but that floor to ceiling bank of cabinets, referred to as a "wardrobe" at TC, is my favorite feature of my ORE model I have dragged from coast to coast now for 2 years. It keeps things organized and the teardrop always tidy. I don't know why that's important to me, but it is. Our experience like others ,has been great with ours. Todd , Carol and crew are wonderful people. Upon visiting the shop during our build, the person handling our unit was exited to show us her work and pride in what she was creating for us. You just can't put a price on that kind of service.

Long time lurker, first time commenting. We just bought a trailer from Todd and Carol and he is going on his first trip to see the eclipse this weekend. Besides making a great trailer. TC Teardrops is a fabulous company to work with. You really do get the personal touch. When we picked up our trailer, Todd was the one who gave us the tour of our new baby and handed us the keys. It was awesome.

We're starting our 7th year with our 5X9. Ours is pretty basic, but it's got everything we need. The trailer is built like a tank, but pulls like a dream. I use it weekly from May through October, and the only wear and tear is a few scratches. The best part is the tremendous customer service and the helpful community of TC owners.

Todd and Carol and everyone I've met at TC Teardrops are WONDERFUL. You become part of the TC Teardrop family when you have one of their campers. They really stand behind their campers, and listen to their customers. Their campers are so well thought out because they and their friends camp in them. I have a 2022 5x9 Original model TC Teardrop, and it has been so fun to camp in and so easy to take care of. Tow with my 2015 Subaru Outback. You really can't go wrong working with this company on a teardrop build. Oh - there are also places you can rent a TC Teardrop to try it out. I did that while I was finalizing my build options and it helped me figure out what I wanted (and get excited about the teardrop they were making for me). Drew, thanks so much for covering this great teardrop company! I love your channel and I was so excited to see that you'd done a video on TC Teardrops. :)

Really nice video, I got a little choked up when you started talking about the TC family... you see, before I even thought about getting a TC, Todd and Carol were so supportive of the midwest overland commuity and the events I host to bring everyone together. They are so fun and they become friends with everyone they meet. Kindness, thoughtfulness, compassion and community care is just in their nature. Everyone says the customer comes first, Todd and Carol actually mean it.

I can attest that Todd and Carol are great people. Even though I bought mine second hand, they have treated me no different than someone who bought it directly from them when I've needed parts or information. As far as not having any counter space, I built a hinged removable countertop on the one side of mine, I carry my fridge in the tow vehicle, so I use that area underneath for extra storage and it works great. I also built removable tables that fastens to each side of the trailer for extra working space. That's what is great about these trailers, they are customizable.

@@PlayingwithSticks My original build included the TCTD custom roof rack, 270 Batwing awning (right side), Front Runner 2.5 Awning with full side room and floor (left side), 25 watt Zamp solar panel, battery charging system, battery upgrade, 6’ toolbox on front, bamboo matress, reading lights, all around curtain rods, galley has upgraded lighting, shore power strip, slide out silver ware tray. And they customized the galley to fit the biggest Kong cooler I could get, full size spare tire, 11# propane tank with custom holder, wood finish/seaming all around, and the space age flooring throughout. Also, they work with a local custom graphics company. I sent them the pic I wanted on the back hatch, they sent it to the graphics co., and the graphics co. came to TCTD and installed it. I can’t say enough about the flexibility in customization. And I know that if there’s something you want they will find a way to make it happen. Going back for upgrades: Dometic fridge, 180 watts solar, door fans, lithium battery, additional 12v and usb ports in galley, and magnets for doors.

Another awesome video! One thing about their counter space: the video only shows one attachable counter but you can get more. I have 2 and that is more than I usually need. Our max tow is 2000lbs for our 2 door Jeep Rubicon and the ORE dry weight is well under that. Todd and Carol even came to our home on the west coast to drop off/pick up an item. Talk about front door service!! Literally!😂 (They were in the area😁) It’s like they’ve thought through every part and road block on a teardrop and not only found a solution, but made it better!

I’ve got 2 of the pop-up counter tops too. It’s great that you can spec them with cutting board material also. They stow conveniently between the fridge and the back of the camper.
@PlayingwithSticks
@PlayingwithSticks 3 ай бұрын
@CraigG21 in another benefit of that cutting board material is you can leave these out for weeks on end and not worry about them getting damaged from the elements
@jeffp3415
@jeffp3415 3 ай бұрын
I had them switch sides in our TC, because in my home kitchen my stove is to the left of my counter space. So I put my stove on the attachable table and use the slide out for additional prep space. I actually do most of my prep work on a cutting board on top of the cooler - it just takes a little thought to get out everything you need before prepping.

Alex from TCT here. The door fans are incredibly popular. They run 350 to 400cfm depending on the availability of the fans we use. More than enough air flow for the cabin space, without having to cut a massive hole in the roof and remove the possibility of a devestating leak.

I would enjoy camping in this teardrop. Nice cabin space. Good galley. I didnt catch how long it was or the weight. I like these water tanks that attach to the side. I also liked the interior storage. In my teardrop bed i have a great fluff of sleeping bags and feel like the lower fans would get blocked. I like the fans on the door but think they'd work better for me at the top. I slso like the higher vents up on the side walls. I do have a fantastic fan in my ceiling and have been using it since 2011. I have never had roof leak problems. Thanks Drew. Sweet trailer.

Thanks Jenn for giving an update about no-leaks. Like you, we haven't had leaks from a quality rooftop fan as well. I have had to install a new roof vent on my cargo trailer, but that was just because it was a cheap roof vent that overtime broke down from the sun. Good point on the sleeping bags. I never would have considered that. Someone yesterday mentioned in the community tab how they wouldn't like wind blowing on them from that angle. I could see people having issues with that as well.

We bought the Beddy’s bedding/sheet for our TC. Doesn’t interfere with the fans on the doors. I was initially concerned about the noise of the fans, but they are super quiet, even on “hi”. They do a good job of pulling air in from the side windows into and out of the camper through the doors.

Maybe someday I will come across someone with this brand trailer. I would like to try getting in and out of the cabin. I don't feel comfortable with the door fans, but it is a good idea. I'd also like to see the struts that hold up the galley hatch. The functionality of them seems to be high end. Wind IS a big deal. Having to hold down the hatch in severe wind is a bad idea. Ok, and I LOVE the little bread cupboard.

A great video as always. I just got back from a coast to coast circle around the United States equaling 7260 mi. Of course towed my teardrop the whole way. I did half the trip with one of my daughters from La which was awesome. We had wind and rain. A very important aspect of a teardrop is that you have shelter when you are cooking. Having said all that. I think this trailer that you've featured here is a fantastic one but it does look like you would be cooking in the rain. Also behind the stove looks like a dead space unless you had long arms to be able to reach behind to get whatever. And I find my cabinets although cumbersome sometimes because of the doors keeps everything from falling while driving on roads under construction etc. I am also wondering if the fenders could be stood upon. And also the charge system. I'm not a big fan of AGM batteries anymore. The cabinets on the inside from talk to bottom is a great idea exclamation point although you don't have any Shelf space. As under my cabinets where my feet go I was able to put in a sliding Shelf with minimum clearance under the cabinets. I ended my trip with my last night being covered in 2 in of snow. It was a fantastic trip with a lot of memories made. And also my grandchild's first birthday was the center of it. Much love to you and your family.

These are the stories we love to hear! And wow, that is an adventure. It’s one thing to go cross country, but a whole different story to do it with those you love. Don’t get me wrong, I love my solo trips, but I bet those memories you created with your daughter was priceless. I think I didn’t do a very good job getting the right angle for that galley hatch. Meaning poor videography work on my end. Well, not as much coverage as you saw with that aero teardrop. The TC teardrops have way more coverage than a typical three-quarter galley like you would see on a camp inn or a high camp teardrop. And yes, good eye on the storage. If you opted to have a teardrop with this type of storage, you have some of those awkward, reaching into tight spaces moments that I talk about in other videos. While not ergonomically pleasing, it’s a really good use of space if you’re about maximizing what these can store

That is a really nice option. I like how they did a wall of cabinets inside. This allow you to sleep with your head opposite the door. Less tracking of dirt near where you lay your head. Not sure how I feel about the fans in the doors. From an air circulation perspective that’s good. From a safety perspective maybe not. I do really like the condensation fans on the sides.

Excellent video, Drew! This is what a "pro-tip" trailer looks like when the designer/builder actually USES it! Very well thought out trailer with real-world practicality. So from what I've seen here, there are no cons just preferences. Also, it was interesting to hear Todd's comments about the forces of crosswinds against a trailer. Often we hear about the threat of water damage or vibrations, but this is the first time I've heard of the negative effects of wind. Also, and unless I missed it, where is the trailer's power system located? On another note, Drew. When can we expect to see a video on the Timberleaf line of trailers?
@PlayingwithSticks

I thought the same as you. This was one of the first times I have heard it in an interview. And he had a really good point. What I wish I followed up on was how strong is this impact without large items on the roof. Was he specifically referring to wind shear when hauling large gear like kayaks, or did he just mean in general? As for Timberleaf, I haven’t been in the greatest hurry to get in one. They’ve been the only company that passed on an opportunity to get filmed. I hope to film them at some point.

What he was talking about, was where the sidewalls connect to the subfloor of the trailer. Meaning that’s how they typically connect on a standard build from other companies. On his model, the sidewalls not only are attached to the roof in the subfloor, but they’re attached to a parallel structural piece of wood across the bottom of the galley. Essentially what he was saying is that if he pulled out on the sidewalks, you’d see flex and typical construction, but with his build, those sidewalls have much more support due to the lateral structural component attaching the two vertical sidewalls. I hope this makes sense. As usual, I think I could’ve done a better job describing this in the video.

I'm concerned about your channel. You're one of the ones that actually pop up quite a bit on a bunch of different types of little tow behinds. But the one giant mistake that all of you make is the fact that you support these companies at this level to charge so much money. $6,000 almost $7,000 for this, is half the price of something you can get in an RV. A full size fully functioned RV! Everyone knows right now and I'm saying everyone in the entire world not just America who buys all this stuff, but the entire world knows that the price of Arby's is going to plummet! You're supporting these companies as such a high level of price when there is nothing here compared to what goes on with an RV. And I like you. I like your responses to the vehicles that are out here that we can camp in. I like your insight to what to look for. But I also recognize the winds of change are coming and they're coming hard for vehicles like this. Before the pandemic hit vehicles like this were absolutely not even existent because you're not going to make a lot of money off them. And now that we're heading back in that direction right now especially very very very very very hard The prices of these things need to come down by thousands of dollars! That's what we're going to be looking for. Who is going to pay $7,000 for a tent that rides on wheels when you can purchase a full size RV for $8,000? Even $9,000? No one is going to pay this much for these tiny little vehicles that have nothing in them. The pandemic is over. The need for people to literally just purchase a tiny little tent on wheels so that they can have fun in the weekends without getting COVID are done! So what's going to happen to little channels like yours. Were you do a great job explaining how these vehicles look but the price is so outrageous no one in their right mind would even listen to a word you have to say. I hope you do well in the upcoming months. But I understand if we lose you we're losing another great reviewer on how and what you should look for when purchasing a small travel trailer. These vehicles should cost no more than $3,000 at the max! Maybe say $4,999.99 just to make it less than 5k. In all of this that's about to happen in the next few months I really hope we do not lose you. You have been very good at showing the strengths and weaknesses of everything that you have done.

Drew can reply but my thoughts: You gotta swallow hard and stomach what the market is. This trailer is actually VERY well priced against Camp-Inn, Vistabule and others. Would I like them all to be cheaper, yes. And there ARE cheaper builds. But not with this kind of crafted workmanship. Some hard realities on RVs: They are mass produced. Yes, more bang and size for your buck, but they nearly all have horrible reputations and life spans. And their resale value drops like a rock, accordingly. Try buying a used Vistabule or Camp-Inn. Those things hold their value.
@rxibot

@@deanlockwood2124 This is the best you have to offer? Literally the entire industry of RV is collapsing and you're sitting there trying to defend them for something that isn't worth the price that they are listed at? I'd like to hear why you feel that the industry is a whole should be more expensive than what it is. I literally would love to hear why you like to spend more of your money unless it's not your money in the first place. Because everyone out here sees exactly what's happening. Arby's have already tanked but I don't want the quality to go down but it's going to. But then again it should never have been as high as it is. So you can try and defend the price for some weird reason like you are a mole that is invested into these companies with your stock market garbage. But the fact that you think that a literal tent on wheels is worth more than $5,000, I would like to hear the reasons as to why I should purchase something that is nothing more than a tent on wheels. It doesn't have a bathroom it doesn't have a kitchen It doesn't have anything that is even remotely close to an RV as to why you should charge anywhere near the price now that the pandemic is over. Other than the fact that you have purchased stock in these companies. I'll wait seriously I'll sit here and wait for you to answer.
