In this video, we review one of the most incredible architectural projects by Studio MK27, designed by renowned architect Marcio Kogan. This modern glass house is located in Whistler, Canada, which is known for its extreme snowy terrain. The project challenges traditional concepts by creating a connection between the inside and outside, despite its harsh climate.
The 1,130 m² house combines transparency and simplicity, making it seem to float above the snowy landscape. With its large volume of glass, the residence invites the beauty of the surrounding nature inside, creating a sense of lightness and harmony. The metal-clad basement also adds a touch of harmony to the environment, offering protection from the cold weather without sacrificing aesthetics.
Not only is the design stunning, the house is also functional, designed so that its inhabitants can directly interact with nature, even entering the house on skis. Studio MK27 is truly changing the way we look at architecture in snowy environments.

The house is amazing!!! But judging by the child's clothes, it is not suitable for winter indoors.

No surprise, the annual heating bill for this house has to be absolutely astronomical. No sane person would design a glass house for this environment unless costs were of little or no consideration! Regardless of the overall design idea the connection (integration) between indoor and outdoor environments is an absolutely ridiculous notion. A totally irresponsible design for this location - period. I predict this house will be abandoned within a relatively short time frame due to extreme operating costs or will have to be substantially modified for future use.

but....they said it was practical. But they do build sky scrapers in Calgary covered in glass. I assume there is glass that is insulated well enough for the much warmer temps of whistler if you have the dollars.

Lmao sunlight, kiddo. Sunlight is heating this glass box. This design would have problems COOLING, but given its location, that probably wouldn’t be a problem, either.
