Love your show. I joined a camping/shooting club out of San Diego back in 1978 when I was just 21. We had 100 acres 80 miles out of SD on the Mexican border. I tent camped for a few years then an older couple that couldn't camp anymore donated their late 1960's 10 ft trailer for past dues owed. I can'r remember who made it , but it was squarish with the normal amenities but just needed paint. My friends on the board maneuvered a quick sale to me for $300. Painted it in my girlfriends driveway with Dupont Imron (airplane paint). Not a smart idea but I was young and stupid. We left our trailers at the club because we had a caretaker. I passed it to another couple a few years later for $500 and moved up in size. I miss hauling that 10 footer behind my 1985 Nissan 4 wheel drive. Many, many great memories and people. Thanks for your show. P.S. Don't ever try to cook spaghetti on your front stove with your trailer unhooked and no jacks under the back. Ask me how that's not a good idea.

facebook.com/groups/658848557659417 Is a Facebook group to help. Be VERY careful. Most vintage trailers are simply wooden frames with a thin layer of aluminum over them. The frames rot out if the roof isn't fully sealed every 8 or so years, as well as the windows all need to be removed and resealed every ten years!

Great channel guys. I'll be out in Oregon next March - May hanging out (retiring)...my daughter goes to U of Oregon. If you guys hold a meet up I can say Hi. As for that awesome 28' Traveleze, looks like they don't weigh a whole lot, maybe 5,000lbs empty? You could use a newer half ton to pull that thing if it was set up for heavier towing. Definitely a 3/4 ton could pull it. I just bought a 2024 Ram 2500 gas engine and it'll pull 15,000lbs.
@BossaNovaLife5 ай бұрын
Hard to say. Our 18 ft Oasis is the same height and width and it weighs 4200 empty. So probably closer to 6000 empty on the traveleze? Thanks for watching!

Quick question...do you all know what the original colors to the 1959 westerner was? I thought I would ask...this community is pretty awesome ❤
@BossaNovaLife5 ай бұрын
Oh my. That would be above my pay grade. I've never heard of a Westener nor am I familiar with original colors of trailers. Wow. I would ask one of the multiple vintage trailer Facebook groups. :) There were hundreds of trailer companies back in the 50s-60s.

15:44 Beatles, I always have to turn off the background music now when I make my car fixit videos, I always get dinged! . My first experience with trailers was the yearly show in Santa Cruz Mountains, south of Felton. We now have a canned ham 13' Roadrunner that was tastefully redone including a loo for the lil lady. Original stove and modern plumbing, rewired and all new wood structure. It's missing the original arrow painted outside, so kinda bummed about that, otherwise is a real treat to camp in..
@BossaNovaLife4 ай бұрын
@600miles Nice! Yeah people repaint them often to match the original design too.
