So coming from a colder climate, one reason a lot of smoke might have gone into the house is there was no air suction. In the winter when you have a fire burning, the cold air draws the smoke outwards and thus also pulls a draft to continue the fire to burn. In the summer it becomes more difficult to have a fire indoors because that draft doesnt occur since it is much warmer outside. Without this draft, smoke tends to go whereever it wants, aka filling your house. Stay safe everyone!!!

Fun story, I was watching this wearing my headphones and did not notice that my own home smoke alarm was going off. As fore the absolute chaos this firechat has been, there are still silver linings that are absolute worth mentioning.
