I have this bike. I am delighted with it, does everything I want, cross country and off road, gravel tracks, drives like a breeze on roadways. I can ride for a while with no effort, I am 68 and manage long rough tracks easily.

To activate the throttle function on newer models, and remove the speed restriction (on private land!) - - When the display is turned on, press and hold the "+ & -" button at the same time for 3 seconds to enter the setting interface. After releasing the "+ & -" button, press and hold the "+" button for 15 seconds to release the 6km accelerator limit and the 25km/h speed limit." Do the same to reverse the function back to stock.

Engwie contacted me asking me to review one of the non compliance ones, I looked into the legality thinking I’d seen so many KZbinrs using them it was probably ok, I didn’t realise it could affect my driving license if I did. I contacted Engwie with my concerns and they agreed to send me this model instead, I’m not going to lie I’d have happily used the illegal one if I hadn’t researched due to putting myself on KZbin but I’m not happy doing it as I am. Great video though I can only hope to do it as much justice ( you can easily swap the brakes) cheers Rick
@ExploreVanUK7 ай бұрын
Yeah they are really good like that. We currently have an Engine Pro 2 and X24 which we are testing off the road as neither are fully compliant due to having motors above 250w I know many people use higher-rated ones on the road and it's likely that if you have the throttle switched off and the speed limited to 15.5 MPH you would never have an issue, but it is a risk, especially if you ever have an accident.

Very good test. Informative information. I'm just wondering how it can be for tall people? I am 194 cm, 6.36 feet and 110 kg, 242 pounds.
@ExploreVanUK3 ай бұрын
I think it would be ideal. If anything shorter people would find it difficult. I’m 6’1” 95kg and there was plenty of adjustment left.

Which one would be best? This or L20 2.0? Or pvy z20 max For deliveries, range, comfort and security
@ExploreVanUK7 ай бұрын
Afraid I can’t compare as I’ve not tried the others, but for what you’ve said the Engine Pro 2.0 would be my choice if you’re happy it’s not totally road legal. If you want it to be completely legal in UK EU then the engine X. Watch out for our video next week on the Engwe X24 as that could be the best option with its dual batteries, bigger wheels, three point suspension and more dynamic riding position.

In France if your e-bike does 45 klms per hour you have to register it with ANTS.. Take out insurance.. Fit a registration plate.. A proper helmet and security gloves.. So 750w motors are allowed
@ExploreVanUK2 ай бұрын
Hi these are known as “Speed Pedelecs” You also need a licence (AM or B) I can’t see it being an easy task for anyone without a French Address / Licence to comply.

In the British weather how is it for riding in the rain (waterproof)just incase you get unexpected downpour
@ExploreVanUK7 ай бұрын
We’ve not had any problem with it and it’s been in a number of unavoidable downpours / drizzly rides. We do give it a good wipe over to dry it and never put it away wet.
@karlosthehawk37307 ай бұрын
Ok only asked because am thinking of getting the new version of this bike but I seen somewhere that it only has a IP2 waterproof rating and wasn't sure if that's enough for wet weather we have
@ExploreVanUK7 ай бұрын
@karlosthehawk3730 I think it’s just Engwe being cautious to be honest.

If you do decide to go for any of the Engwe range let me know and I’ll see if I can sort you out a discount code.

Hi, I don't have an end date for it from Engwe, sometimes Partners limit it by the number purchased rather than dates, but hopefully it will still be active when you need it!

Hi, is it definitely the Engine X you bought rather than the Engine Pro? If so I would contact Engwe direct as should have. In the meantime you can find a copy of the Conformity Certificate here - cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0549/9017/6300/files/X.pdf?v=1678869511

Two of these very heavy for cycle rack on Motorhomes. Promoting an easy way to get around safety legislation. Another video solely about earning £
@ExploreVanUK8 ай бұрын
Hi, thanks for your comment, it's a good point and exactly why I talk about weight in the video, along with their ability to be folded for storage/transport in a motorhome garage or carried in a van or car boot rather than on a bike rack. The key point of the video is actually about the importance of choosing a bike that does meet the legislation, unlike many that don't. Sorry you feel that our videos are solely about making money, we make a point of only sharing products that we are comfortable to endorse and would pay for ourselves. Like most KZbin channels we do make money from affiliate sales on some of the products and our viewers often benefit from discounts (such as the £100 off on this one) this is made clear in the video description and product placement tagging. We are a business and the money we earn helps us to continue to make videos, however for a channel of our small size there isn't a huge amount left after the HMRC have taken their cut and we've paid the overheads of public liability insurance, licensing etc.

I dont care what a sticker says. If it is a restricted 750w, it is not legal....the only legal bike is an actual 250w motor
@ExploreVanUK7 ай бұрын
The Engine X is a 250w motor so it meets your criteria . It’s also worth noting the UK Legislation states: “must have a maximum power output of 250 watts” It doesn’t say it has to be a 250w motor. www.gov.uk/electric-bike-rules

You’re right, and I don’t think they should be expected to as they are electrically “assisted” bikes. You can buy a road legal electric motorbike, take your licences and pay for insurance if you want a bike that is self propelled.

Can’t speak for other areas but they certainly are in Birmingham and Cardiff and confiscating / crushing + potential points on licence and fine. (Driving not in accordance with licence and No insurance) In the Netherlands they are taking it very seriously with road side testing rigs to prove any that are claiming to be compliant but actually aren’t.
