I bought one and drive a Sportage towing a 7.2 metre caravan , this camera is excellent. When changing lanes on motorway etc, before turning right off main road etc. this camera is a god send, if you tow anything just get one. By the way excellent review.

Another excellent video (the helper was a good addition). I bought one through your link and even though I'm in France it ended up being a better price than I could get here with all the promotions (yours and Amazon's). I already have a top-of-the-van camera, but want another at license plate level. I know from experience that I just don't see everything -- and you can never see too much when backing up 7+ meters of van!

Ordered one on the strength of this video. (Can't get it so cheap anymore, It's about £145 now......) Fitted it on my Lexus RC 300 H (Lux ) which obviously doesn't have a camera but REALLY needs one! Rear vis is awful!! Works really well .... & .... as stated; was easy to fit. Well happy ... And now maybe I will stop reversing into things I couldn't see !!!

Having fitted an Autovox wired camera, which was far from easy to do, I wish I had fitted one of these instead. Seems like a good option.

Great question! No, you can remove the little security screw which lets you detach the camera from the bracket mounted to the number plate. Or alternatively you can use a Portable USB Battery pack to charge it whilst it is on the number plate. I probably should have shown that in the video!

To be honest I have the parking lines turned off as I find them of little use on most cameras (other than the dynamic lines on factory fitted cameras) The camera is 1080p

Excellent video thank you. Hoping to buy one for my Yeti, undecided whether to lower plate an inch or so to fit on top to get benefit of the apparent 'slope' of the solar panel. If I fit below it looks to me as if the solar panel will slant downwards. Also I cannot figure out the difference between Solar1pro and Solar1plus. ...

Hi, Glad it was useful! it shouldn’t make a difference if mounted on top or bottom the solar panel should be vertical either way.

Depends where your plate illumination comes from some are above, some are below and some are from the sides. As you can mount the camera at top or bottom of plate you should always be able to mount it so that it doesn't interfere.

Does this affect the number plate lights illuminating the plate at night ??? Nobody seems to mention this in all the videos I've watched

Hi Chris, it's a good question, depending on where your number plate lights are (some are above, some are below and some are to the side of the number plate) it may do. However, as it can be mounted on the Top or the Bottom of the number plate you can always position it so it doesn't interfere with them.

As we were only temporarily mounting it to the van to show the ease of installation, I didn't check. But I suspect it would at least partially block the numberplate lights. If I were permanently mounting it on the van I suspect mounting it to the bottom of the plate would be better. We now have it mounted on the car as that is where we use it most and we already have an Autovox Solar 4 camera on the van.

Can i use this as a front facing parking camera? How easy is it to be nicked if left mounted on the number plate?

Yeah no reason why not, you can switch off the mirroring in the settings. The adhesive strip on back of number plate is super strong and the bracket has a security screw so make it hard to remove. The camera is pretty useless without the screen so can’t see it being too much of a target.

Can this system be used as a real time, continuous camera when driving? Will it give a good view to the rear as if its a rear view mirror?

It can’t be set to continuous you would have to tap the button every 2 mins to keep it on, obviously it would also run the camera battery down in 7.5 hours and the solar is unlikely to charge it quick enough to keep it going. If you’re looking to have the camera running continuously I would recommend having one where the camera is wired for power. You could use the AutoVox W7Pro and wire the positive on the camera to a switched live feed rather than the reversing light. amzn.to/4bEkEyL

Imagine it depends how picky your MOT tester is. But a good heads up to pop out the antitheft screw and remove it before going for MOT. It can also be mounted below the number plate which may be tolerated more.
