This was a cool day! We explored and filmed a lot, so there’s a lot more to come from this day! This old farm site was quite amazing. There’s still more to come of this place, too, so it’s kind of a part one video.... Thanks for Daniel and Matt for showing us around! Absolutely wonderful video, Robert! So nice to have a family member walking through with you who could give a little history of the place-it brought it alive again. I never did find a grill for that car. Long story, but I had the old Ford towed down to my shop and it was damaged during tow. Really broke my heart and I sold it shortly after. I actually have a Ghia down at the VW shop I manage. I’ll film it with Omar one day, like we did my 57 Chevrolet. I’ll also try to sell him the Ghia so he can build it hahaha Anyway, thanks again!

It makes me very sad to see this one. It reminds me so of my grandparents farm house in the mountains of Eastern Kentucky, which was empty for years and was purposely burned down by arsonists. It makes me home sick and long for my childhood days and staying with them in the summers. There was no better joy than going down that old dirt road to their place and seeing them waving from the porch.

My grandmother had an apartment in her Queen Anne house on the first floor also. She rented it out and she also took in boarders. People did what they had to do to make ends meet. She also had family members live with her when they had no where else to go. So sad that houses are falling into disrepair and being torn down.

Just found your channel by chance. Stayed and subscribed because it's history of the South. Thanks !!! Yall be careful, I think Copperheads are common in that area. Never mind the Ticks and Chiggers. Just thought I'd comment that most people hear the words cotton farm and immediately think slaves. Sharecroppers were poor people that were just trying to support their families with a crop of whatever. This family farmed cotton. ✌🏻❤

Have you heard of or ever explored the train wreck incident at Camp Creek just outside McDonough Ga....it happened in 1905 I believe killing 49 people. The trestle washed away from a huge rain storm. Apparently the engineer wanted to wait the storm out but the conductor said no...they only made it a few miles before disaster hit.

You can dismantle a piano and take it out piece by piece. The soundboard is the heaviest part. But clean it up, and just keep it as a fond memory of his time with that family. Its called a Shotgun, and that is how you stayed cool at night. Did not need door locks back then.

Robert, I like you use to do about the same thing. As a kid in the 50s I would explore old houses people just left it empty. I go in if I was able and it was scary just me. These houses were built early 1900 so it was a big deal to me. I fine notebooks mechanical pencils from the early 1900s well. Pens Fountain Pens briefcases all old vintage type which I didn’t know it was because I was just a kid but it was very interesting to me I also found old dishes cups and saucers utensils again it was interesting to me that I wanted to explore dishes what I knew I wanted to do. I would put my hands on the wall and actually talk to the house I know it’s kind of weird but I would always say if these walls could talk what would they tell me and if they could hear it they hear my words. Then later as I got older around 12 years old I would explore the woods the streams The parks and see what I could fine. In my later years around 18 or 19 years old me and some friends would explore some old abandoned farms that were dated back to the 1930s and that was really a high for us to story all the abandon homes with a barn. So I totally get what you do and I’m glad that you and your buddies are still doing the stuff because if people aren’t out there doing what you do all of this important history would be gone and I do not believe that this should be forgotten, it’s part of our land part of us it’s part of nature people once live or work their.

“A cow n the roof of a cotton house”. Oh, Brother. 6:30 pretty well proves that snakes don’t come out and attack people, even those with bare legs and low top boots. You gotta a nerve. Not me and I am an old snake catching guy from the U. S. Forest service in the 1960’s up in North Carolina. There’s been a many a good pot ah beans “biled”in that old house. A hundred years ago this place was state of the art and property taxes were probably zero or just one or two dollars a year. When punemonia or the flu or TB got you many times you just died. If those walls could talk.
