Been too Cahokia. The people had gpne from plenty of food from bigger animals to eating mice with thier corn. One cannot live on corn, we must have protein. They started leaving. Makes sense! Some years are good for food, some ar not. The stress on survival makes war and pillaging. Defenses follow. Same thing happened in the west about that time. Drought and crop failure. Population reduction.
