I love old homes! I love to explore old places! So you cant imagine how excited I was to walk around this old home built by German settlers in the 1800s. There is so much to think about with this amazing home site I can only home it gets rebuild one day and loved the way it once was. Thanks for Watching Gone Diggin'

Hey Matt, I've seen this house before. In Madison Co if I'm not mistaken. I think somebody else made a metal detecting video here once before. There was a federal camp on the property during the Civil War. Anywho, I found this tidbit of info. Thought I'd share it. "Hi, My name is David Lee Utz my father is Clarence Davenport Utz Jr. My Grandfather was Clarence Davenport Utz.My Grandmother was Matilda Utz.Some of my Great Aunt's and Uncle's are still alive living through out Orange Co. Va., Madison Va., and Culpeper Va.My Great Uncle's are Oliver Utz, Ernest Utz, Aubrey Utz, Euby Utz, and Great Aunt Virginia Utz. I think I am forgetting one or two of my grandfathers brother. I remember my Great Grandma was a Weaver.I remember going a farm house when I was little in Madison Va.It had been in our family for a long time. My father and Great Uncle Oliver sold it.We use to have huge family reunions that had the best food and tons of games, dancing and softball.I wish we still had that. My dad use to tell me when our relatives came over there where 3 brother.One went to the Midwest and was a very good artist, the other went to P.A. and was a farmer.My decedent was the oldest and settled in V.A.He was 6'6" with a handle bar mustache and could fit 3 regular men in his trousers."

These types of houses are very nice but, they are cold in the winter! You would have to have a wood stove in every room. Feeding a wood stove every few hours is a lot of work.

Definitely worth saving and if you had a new house budget you could make that into a dream home that would last another 200 years. Thanks for the tour. Wishing you all the best. Good luck, happy hunting and take care.

you should have charges placed against you......This is on the National Register Of Historic Places, you have no right to even step foot on that property....... :( NO TRUCK STOP......... YOU RUIN OUR AREA...................and you are criminal trespassers. good luck :(
@GoneDiggin
@GoneDiggin 2 жыл бұрын
Rob, it’s a good thing being stupid isn’t illegal because you would have been jailed long ago. This property is 100% privately owned and I had permission to visit this site and never trespassed for a single second. You should educate yourself about the National Register of historic place and the individual laws about property ownership before telling someone they ruin a area. I bet you’re neighbors don’t like you.

@@GoneDiggin it was just in the Smyth County Virginia News and Messenger about the "HUGE" council meeting about the home and the lake and the buildings, in the will, she left it to the Holston United Methodist Foundation to be used as a spiritual retreat if the adjacent property is commercialized or industrialized, it's in her "Lucy Herndon Crockett" will for the entire property to be destroyed and the lake filled in.
