Some great finds. The Jeep Cherokee (XJ) was about a 1995 or 1996. They hold a special place for me. Bought one new in1997(1998 model year). Drove it all over the United States; from the state of Maine to Alaska and through Canada. When I was done with it (excessive rust from living in upstate NY where salt is used for snow and ice control) body was unsafe. A friend bought it from me with 513,000 miles (825,593.47 kilometers). Pulled the drive line out(engine,transmission and transfer case) then installed them in a 2000 Jeep Wrangler. That was two years ago and it's still going strong. Not too bad for a 23 year old drive line. Can't beat the 4.0 liter straight 6 cylinder engine. Was probably the best vehicle I have owned. Just thought I'd share that info. Great content on your channel, keep up the good job mate, Cheers 👊👍✌

@@onceuponatimeintoronto891 Ford was really making good cars in the 80s. But you need the turbo (no offensice about your GT) - I used to dream of the Cossie RS500. Tried a friends many years later - it was just as nuts I as I had hoped. Never could afford one - just when I got some cash togther, the market had jumped. They are stupid money now. The best sitting in an air conditioned warehouse, never moving. Missing the point I feel - its ford not a Maserati, the peoples car.

66k barely run in, I dont think so, the cvh engine generally struggled to achieve 100k in standard form, let alone the turbo charged version.
@anon55003 жыл бұрын
You sure about that?!🤔 Strange mine didn’t need even a head gasket until 92k I blew it up doing 144mph proven on gps (yes at a track!) (All std internals from the factory but lots of mods) The only crap area is the cam and followers that don’t last for toffees, maintain them well and they’re just as good as anything else from that era… so long as you avoid rain🙈😂 Kept standard they’re fine when maintained well, modify using old injection system, that’s where the problems are as it’s ancient and crap, trust me I know and I’ve owned it for 23yrs and it lives in a garage to stop it vanishing from thieves and rain😂
@garethjones80473 жыл бұрын
@@anon5500 You are obviously a man that knows your cars and therefore they must be maintained correctly. I have been a mechanic for 20 years and I do remember problems with these engines from years ago. They certainly weren't the best. My uncle had a brand new rs turbo in 1988/1989, 13 grand I think he paid, 2 engines and 3 turbos in the first 2 years under warranty. And he didnt abuse it. I've come across lots of cvh engines blowing lots of smoke before 100k, even though the owners maintained them correctly. It's the luck of the draw i guess, but having owned a 306 dturbo for the past 19 years i wouldnt want one, apart from to profit from.
