You can probably try using bigger spoons to get more distance and catch bigger fish...and the weight might help in the surf with all the breeze...and maybe use braid too if u can afford...it help alot wit lh distance...just use some flouro or mono leader as braid cuts easily with abrasion
@KoSMTT6 жыл бұрын
I would have used the bigger spoons a bit more, but that travel rod wouldn't be able to handle it...I did try using a bigger one for a bit in Grand Anse, but no luck...I have braid on a couple of my other reels, but when travelling, I carry the mono as it is less complicated and have to walk with less gears...I am planning to go back with a heavier set up and give it a try...We will see how it goes...Thanks for the tips...

I'm from South Florida and will be on the Island November 15th through December 5th. My interest is fishing from the shore. After looking over all available videos it seems to me that the fish tend to run small or maybe that's all available in the videos. Snook is what I'm really interested in and I am accustomed to catching them up to 30 pounds here,,,from shore. My question is what shore has the largest of any species ? I'm bringing everything from top water to suspending lures but what location fishable would be best? I don't want to intrude on other peoples property but would like to catch a memory. Any advice or guidance would be appreciated.

Hey man...Which island are you heading to exactly? Grenada? or Trinidad? I can tell you right away...It is very rare to get the type of beach fishing you have in So Flo anywhere in the Caribbean....
@HandSaversUSA5 жыл бұрын
@@KoSMTT Granada and I'll probably scout the Southern part of the Island. Seems to me that if there is a river that reaches the ocean then that would be a good start. Otherwise the mangroves will see me. Staying in the Grand Anse vicinity in a house right across from the ocean. Thanks for the reply and feel free to come on by. If there's anything of size,,,,I'll find it.

@@HandSaversUSA Ahhh Grenada...I am actually from Trinidad and visit Grenada occasionally...I have not done much exploring as I am usually there for very short periods...In my research, I have not seen any evidence of Snook catches on the island...But there is a land locked saltwater pond to the North of the Island called Levera pond...There are some pretty decent tarpon in there...I have never been able to visit yet...But you should definitely give it a try...Hope you find some big ones!

@@KoSMTT see,,,That's what I'm talking about. People travel from all over the world to catch a Bonefish like that in the Florida Keys. Now imagine sight casting to a school of 30 or more. Also,I'm happy to see you point out casting parallel to the shore. Fish along any beach tend to swim where the waves stir up the sand looking for crabs and such. I don't like using leaders also and rely on a properly set drag to let the hooked fish tire themself out. After watching most of the videos regarding fishing in Grenada I'm convinced that when it comes to the snook, only the juveniles are being caught. There is no way that snook mature at such a small size and I will figure them out. Thanks for the heads up on the Tarpon lake and I'll do my best to watch my wife catch her first. Watch out Grenada,,,the grey haired yankee wearing a long sleeved ocean print shirt is coming to solve the big fish mystery. Catch and release of course.
