Just a tip, part of the reason you might have been broken off was the loop knot. They aren't as strong as a normal knot like the Palomar knot. And since there's a split ring, the loop knot is kinda redundant in terms of action.

I've had other BPM baits kzbin.infoUgkxCbNOWAGmn6nfbCbJDmasvBq7J38KZNw2 before and they've pretty much always came through for me with the suskie smallies here and even with the walleye and pike, but I realized I didn't have an "in-between" pattern so this junebug one fills that role in no problem. it pairs up magnificently with a junebug Zoom Z-craw Jr that was trimmed a couple millimeters before the hook slots and rigged sideways for that fatter panfish side profile while still being a nice'n'compact presentation, a real power-finesse bait. Hell, it was so pretty I even bothered to fotosketch the pic into a watercolor painting image just to show you it's beauty! Even the blades are really well made, sure, they're not of Hildebrandt-level exquisiteness but look at the bead's reflection on the colorado blade, definitely well-made! The only "problem" spot it had was a bald spot in the skirt but it was nothing that I couldn't easily fix with a but of tuggin'n'shiftin' with the strands for a couple of seconds, besides that it is pretty minty!

@@tightlineshightides I’m looking to buy a Penn battalion surf spinning rod 11 feet with a moderate to fast action so would that work in order to get a long distance cast?
@tightlineshightides3 ай бұрын
If you’re planning on fishing this with mostly active fishing with artificial lures, you might want to consider finding a slightly shorter rod. The reason I say that is because, with artificial lures, you’re going to cast 100+ times a day. 11 ft rods are pretty big and those big rods will wear on you after about 30 casts. For artificial lures I like to use somewhere between 7’ and 9’ in order to reduce the weight. Now, if you’re looking to use this rod for more of a passive style fishing rod. Something to put bait on, toss it out, and wait for something to bite, then that 11’ rod will be money!
@Dylan-o8n3 ай бұрын
@@tightlineshightides also should I buy a moderate fast action or a fast action? Is the difference really noticeable when it comes to distance? Also thanks brother, your replies have helped me a lot through my fishing journey.
@tightlineshightides3 ай бұрын
As far as distance goes, I don’t think the difference between a fast action and a moderate fast action matters that much. The fast loads up a little faster and the moderate a little slower, but they both load up in the end. I find the difference comes in to play when working your lure and fighting your fish. The fast action rod generally gives you a little more control and helps you put more direct action on your lure. Always happy to help!

If I’m going somewhere with waves and surf, should I just leave the 7 foot rod at home cause I can’t passed the surf? In other words, can fish be caught in the surf and waves? If I have a bottom rig in my surf rod is it worth throwing a spoon into the waves with my 7 foot rod? Or is that a waste of time? Thanks!

Minnows obviously have dark backs , and this will give off a silhouette shadow as it , rocks and flashes through the water. It gives the appearance of a minnow titlting,swimming out of Rythem. Try Blue silver Kastmasters as well, and Gold on overcast days. Yes try the Polymer Knot. The Braid isnt necessary, I would just use a Quality Mono line , add a ," AQUATICO INVISISWIVEL , actually a florocarbon swivel, not Kidding!, and the a Short leader and your Kastmaster of choice.

Hard to describe on chat. But an easy tip is to make sure you’re using a rod with a lure rating that fits the weight of your lure.

hi, what size cast spoons should get for a 3oz to 8z surf fishing rod?
@tightlineshightides2 жыл бұрын
2 oz on the low end up to 8oz... that being said, you are going to get wore slam out chunking that much lure out all day. I prefer throwing a 3/4oz up to a 2oz spoon for most of my surf fishing.
@JoseAlvarez-og9kr2 жыл бұрын
How much will You make a rod like that for?
@tightlineshightides2 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the interest! I can build a rod to this specification for a pretty wide range of price points. On the low end probably around $175 on up to as high as your imagination/budget can take you. Everything i build is custom to your personal preference. I take into consideration everything from your style and length of handle, the specific reel you are paring with it, typically lures you are throwing, color preference,and your budget. If you are interested, shoot me an email at tyler@tightlinesandhightides.com and we can start the process.

not weird at all... Its pretty light for the size. I like to build them as light as possible so i can cast longer without getting wore out. As for exact weight, not really sure because i don't have something to weigh it with.

Are you positive that is a spoon lure? Looked more like a metal slug, which are fantastic lures. To me a spoon has a concave that looks as the name says a spoon, without the handle.

You are right, from bass fishing i always had a different vision of what a spoon looked like. However, the manufacturer (Acme) calls this lure a spoon.

In the package they come with a 5/0 treble hook. I have had no issues with that size at all. However, if you were going to swap it up, i probably would stay in the 4/0 to 6/0 range...

How deep do you have to go?
@tightlineshightides5 ай бұрын
There are fish in just about all depths. What I like to do is cast out as far as I can, past the swells, and the work the jigs across the troughs. I usually try to cast at a bit of an angle if I can so I can keep the jig in the trough as long as possible. Here in East Coast of Florida, the troughs are pretty close to shore.

Should you not be using a swivel clip.
@tightlineshightides5 ай бұрын
Hey! Thanks for the question. I think that a swivel could help, but I never thought it made a significant difference in action. That being said, snap swivel would make lure swap much faster and easier. If you don't want to commit to one for s bit, maybe a clip would be better.
