That place is awesome! I could live there & wouldn't change a thing. Except the living room carpet. The 70's were great a great decade to be a kid in.

It's great that the people won the lottery but why build something that makes u bankrupt. Why not buy 1of the many mansions sitting empty and renovate that . Proberly cheaper and they could still be enjoying it . Take care Ethon

I did some googling they seemed to have owned and bread race horses. They had a few good years but many, many more bad years. That can help keep you wealthy (after all, they supported that huge property with live stock for over 30 years). But it's also incredibly expensive to maintain.

This place was amazing! I love how they put the fieldstone on the outside wall at the front and then continued it beyond the house for a privacy wall, but it got even better seeing it inside the house 3(!!) times with huge walls of it. They probably found all if not most of that stone on site too (my grandparents had a hobby farm and there was tons of it on their property, some of the trees even look similar to the ones they had on their farm). The giant windows would make this place bright and cheerful in the winter time (look what they did for the basement; plus the horse etchings on the windows was so special 💗). I liked the brick wall and staircase railing too, they gave a bit of extra character (not that the house needed it because it was great everywhere). Another beautiful home (and property) that will be lost and it's heartbreaking. 💔😭 Thank you for sharing it Ethan. Stay safe and take care!

A beautiful home. I think it's strange that the hot tub was so far from a bathroom. Usually like to be close to one for changing and just so you don't drip all over. So the hot tub probably was an add-on. I thought the bedrooms, except for the master, were small, too; at least for the size of the house. That courtyard was really neat, though. Too bad it's being demolished!

A beautiful house with a lot of beautiful spaces in it! I love all the windows and woodwork! Always sad to see places like this not being lived in and used like they should be. But the problem with so many "dream homes" is that the people who share a particular dream after the original builders are gone don't have the money to buy and maintain it, while the ones who do have the money have different dreams that usually also involve different locations. And now the cost of living in this particular home is even higher since it will be an expensive renovation just to make it livable again after sitting empty for so long.

Ethan what's up thank you for your amazing work this particular house I was absolutely in love with. One thing to note is there can be a lot of residual energy in the house and that can cause anomalies like your light dying even though I'm sure you charge it before you left. I looked up that name on the door it looks like that house was owned by a horse breeder and I think a politician he passed away in 2013. That's a beautiful house I really appreciate your coverage of it

The total profit for Barlee Farms from horse racing was $695,918 from 2000-2013. That essentially means they were operating at a loss. Horses, trainers, jockeys, vets, feed etc cost sooo much. One race horse per year costs bare minimum $100,000, just to maintain and train. It was an expensive hobby, not a profitable business for them.

i see security cameras. i'm wondering if those are still active? i think the hot tub area was a add on. a very luxurious 1970's home. i imagine the copper has probably been stolen out of the home. it's unfortunate no one is renovating the home & landscaping.😢 my friend in Baltimore renovated a 70's home. he made the interior modern and luxurious. he also had landscapers renovate outdoors.

I know I'm a little late to the show, but it's not often you reveal too much information about a property you're exploring. I completely respect you for that. However, when I saw Barlee Farms, I had to search it. Not to find the location but rather to inquire about the property and if it was a training facility for race horses or a stable for the purpose of housing race horses. What I found is information on Bill Barlee. If I remember correctly, he passed in 2012, and lived quite a life. He was a wealthy tv host and politician, just to name a few accolades. I'm curious if you do your own research, since you are aware of the exact location, would you discover that is one of his properties. It's beautiful. I can imagine it in it's original glory. The only drawback, in my personal opinion, is the maze-style floor plan. Thanks for sharing. Looking forward to your next explore

Im confused about the heating too. I see all of the thermostats for electric baseboard, but dozens of ginormours registers too🤔

Those registers are the central air. It looks to have been added after the house was built. That's the way they do it with base board heating.
