I recently discovered your channel. Due to our current lockdown in Malaysia, I’ve had time to catch up with your older videos where I learnt about your journey to where you are today in China. Stories like yours are not unusual. A western woman settling down in Asia to follow her love. I know many such women (and men) in Malaysia. I myself lived it. But what inspired me and put me in awe of you was/is the absolute certainty of your love for your man, the country, the people and the language. While the Westerners I’ve met and known have adapted and made a comfortable life for themselves in my country, you have immersed yourself completely into your adopted country. You demonstrate such a conviction of the correctness of your life’s choices….it is really awe inspiring. Furthermore, I’m ashamed to admit I’m ethnically Chinese but can barely string a sentence in Mandarin to save my life, although I do get by in Cantonese. You, however, have mastered Mandarin in a few short years. I’ve subscribed because I want to support and follow you on your journey. You’re a wonderful lady and Wei is a lucky man. I wish you nothing but the very best.

Thank you very much, Katherine. My family thoroughly enjoy your educational and entertaining eye witness reports on rural China and very happy to see you have such a caring, loving, upright and responsible boyfriend. Well done!! China is fascinating in terms of its scale, diversity, national security, cultural heritage, pace of change and progress, social harmony and civility. You are very lucky to have the opportunity to be part of this vibrant and dynamic country. 恭喜妳!

1:33 I am amazed you think squalid chicken dwellings are amazing. You never been to typical villages and don't know how squalid they are. I can't use the word dirty because it's far far beyond that.

In all videos of you when you tell you from US they start telling the story,and I am amused that how in China even the grassroot people come to know about the diplomatic ties of their own country. By the way I am jealous of your Mandarin speaking skills and Wei, love and support from Indian

The Chinese see the government and the people separately. Ordinary people in the United States are ordinary people and have nothing to do with the U.S. government.

Unlike Americans in Kentucky, West Virginia, SC, Mississippi, Deep South & so on, the vast majority of Chinese don’t live a cocoon. They are open-minded & well-informed.

Your love for Chinese culture really makes your video’s fun and enjoyable to watch 😀 thank you!

That green coloured bean is called mung bean and the juice made out of it is very refreshing and can prevent heat stroke. As an anhui local I’m surprised u ca find such place to travel to, as it’s highly un-commercialized and rarely known to outsiders even within China itself, let alone tourism.

Wonderful place and wonderful adventure as always. Love those arts and crafts they do there. I remember those straw fans my mother used to have when I was young. Did'nt know it was made from leafs like that. Thought it was grass of some sort. Nowadays you don't find them sold here anymore. Which reminds me of the Chinese paper umbrellas of those days. Do you still see those in China today? They're usually made with bamboo and I'm not sure what those paper are. I think waxed paper or something. Maybe Wei knows? It's very heavy but functional.
@kats_journey_east3 жыл бұрын
I see some cute little umbrellas in gift shops every once in a while but they aren’t made of paper, they are made some kind of fabric. I guess those umbrellas vanished with industrialization

We had a now defunct old Sydney town, colonial recreation settlement that was visited twice at Gosford over an hour drive up the north coast. Again the long distance or lost of interest killed it.
