How often do you go to a fish store and end up buying something, even if you weren't planning on it?

Awesome vid, Jake! That is a very cool shop. One of my favourite things as a kid was to spend time at a local fish store. It was always such a thrill...checking out the latest types of fish and products was like going to a candy store. These days, unfortunately, a lot of the Ma and Pa shops have gone out of business because of big box stores like PetSmart, and online competition like eBay and Amazon. I think the farther I drive to a shop, the more likely I am to buy something...I figure, "I drove all this way so I might as well make it worth while" HahA! Thanks for posting!

Great points!! We don't have many small mom and pop stores around where I live. Mostly just the big box stores. It was a treat when I heard this place opened up about a 30 minute drive from where I live. I'm the same way you are! The longer I'm in the car, the more likely I am to buy something!!

Not a bad store, nice clean tanks. I go to fish stores all the time BUT I usually don't bye anything. I like taking inventory in my head so I know where I can find Stuff.

I didn't get anything this time, but I'm not always so lucky. The longer I'm in the car, the more likely it is I'll buy something.

Where are they? I grew up in northeastern NJ. Have been involved with TF all my life. Back in the 1950s and 1960s there were tropical fish stores all over there. Additionally, there were private parties who had batteries of tanks in their basement and sold tropical fish from their homes. My father would drive us to these places to pick up fish. Do not know how he found out about them. No Internet back then!

They are in a small town in Northwest Ohio. We have a few people that run breeding for profit operations in the basement or garage. Lots of great knowledgeable people. I suppose it's all word of mouth! I appreciate you watching!
