@@pedarree5186 I thought that myself and back in that time period with what they had to work with ! The trams put up on the side of a mountain in the middle of nowhere, the head tram wheel which might be well over a ton of dead weight , what a feat to get that up a mountain and mounted in place ! I’m kind of awe struck what I have seen built !

I am 55 years old and I remember the first time I saw the mine. I was about 10, We lived in the Lower Mainland and our family was on our annual trip to the Okanagan. We stopped at a gas station at the foot of the mountain. I was bored as my parents were buying some snacks for us. So I decided to take my dad's binoculars and look up the side of the mountain for some reason. I look up and see buildings on the side of the mountain. I was in shock. I was saying what the heck. Am I seeing things!! Could not believe it. Love your channel and I love your enthusiasm and smile. I am glad you brought people with you for safety.

I was there the first week of august 2024. It’s a crazy hard place to get to. I did the hike alone which was probably not a good idea. Also had a mom bear and two cubs on the trail back to where I had parked the rental car. Great video with correct information. You now have me as a sub. Keep up the great work.

It was definitely not an easy hike up to access the place. So worth it, though. I bet that mama and her cubs added even more excitement for you. Thanks for the sub, I appreciate it 😌

Nice work on this. It’s so awesome that it’s still available to be explored. I was there in 1977 with some friends. It wasn’t all that popular then but because of the restoration it looks almost the same as it did back then. This video has inspired me to travel back this year. 😉

Howdy and great vid,..Its a shame this site is left to decay, Through Mr.Bill Barlee efforts and the BC government, the site was restored to a tourist safe destination and left in control of the local first nations. They provided tours and mantainance for the site. I remember taking the tour and bus ride up from Headly and down the 770 +steps to the mine. Even an underround presintation with a sound system "BOOM" Shortly there after from lack of upkeep tours were suspended for safety issues."If there is only one site to be preserved this is the one! Quote Mr.Barlee. R.i.P..

Amazing place , what it took to construct these buildings and structures on top of the rocky ridge ! Just to get the equipment to the site was a feat all by itself ! I shouldn’t say anything but it bothers me to see you sitting on the edge on the old wood railing ! How safe that old wood is I don’t know ! My gawd if it suddenly broke away you wouldn’t survive that fall to the rocks below! The drone work is amazing , I like that for a different perspective of detail , pretty neat tech , very well done ! I like that a lot !

Hello! Yes such a cool place indeed. When I visited, all the roads that had an access to the mine were under construction, so we had to find a totally different, very difficult way up. I'd recommend doing some research on the roads on the mountain to see if they've re-opened, and please be cautious as this is not open to the public.

What rock was hard, probably the "mafic tuffs and minor conglomerate; while the youngest, the Whistle Creek Formation, is essentially an andesitic to basaltic volcaniclastic sequence. Between these two formations is a predominantly sedimentary succession that hosts most of the gold-bearing skarns in the camp" The intrusions generated gold deposit about 187 million years ago. Dinosaurs could have mined it easily when it was on flat ground near water, but they were eating other dinosaurs, and overly concerned about mating...
