Testing a long abandoned gold mine in BC Canada to see how much gold is left. Jason takes a sample from the sulfide veins in the workings and then runs it through a MBMM jaw crusher, hammer mill, and shaker table to recover the gold. The sulfide veins can be challenging to work with as they require additional processing steps such as roasting and smelting to extract the gold from the ore. Jason shares his knowledge and expertise in mining and processing sulfide veins, showing the entire process from sampling to crushing and smelting down the ore to recover the gold buttons. Don't miss this thrilling journey into the world of sulfide vein gold mining.

Jason, while not a geologist, as a mechanical engineer, I would think you would have better luck drilling at edge between hanging wall and vein in softer bull quartz areas. Then repeat vertically below at edge between footwall and vein. With vertical and hopefully horizontal cracking at edge with country rock, break out with hammer drill chisel bit or single jack as you were doing. Drilling into highly mineralized spots in vein is causing extensive heating on your carbide bits, without being lubricated, for sure. Love your vids!

To drill small holes like this without water coolant we keep a handful of bits (like at least 6) nearby and change bits every 30 seconds or so. This does not make the quartz any softer but does let the off duty bits cool and extend the life of the bit. And maybe try to drill your holes in the quartz instead of the band of sulfides, I suspect that the properties and high metal content make them even worst to drill than the quartz.

Might want to check the grade of carbide. Some are for soft, some for hard rock. As usual, a harder blow, and slow rotation, works best in hard rock. Opposite for soft rock. You definitely smoked those bits. An 80 grit silicon carbide bench grinder will touch those up, if the carbide isn't ruined. A hot bit and water is a no no for carbide ( for the other people, not you ).Good luck, and always fun to watch. Thanks.

Life vs investment cost on diamond bits have the highest ROI. Each manufacturer worth thier weight should have a fairly well defined bit needed vs hardness of material breakdown.
