It looks like that was a beautiful hotel at some point, what a shame that the owners couldn't keep it going. Now it looks like something out of a horror movie, you could imagine Jason Voorhees or Michael Myers to come bursting out of one of the doors at any moment. Brilliantly filmed by yourselves, especially the drone footage, and that suitably scary music was the icing on the cake!

It really seems like it was a nice place indeed. The views are stunning. But now indeed it looks more like the scene of a horror movie. I love exploring places like that. Especially when some fog came in. Glad you enjoyed the combination of footage with the music. I have a whole set of eerie music waiting to be used on videos like this one. And a list of places where to find them here too. 😉. Thank you very much for watching and for your comment. 😄

Thanks, i was very happy to be able to capture the place from above. It seems like it used to be quite a nice place. It's also the only place from where both lakes where in one panorama, together with the town. The lake on the left is actually the one we featured last week.

Thank you very much for noticing! I really appreciate reading that. I love places like this and we found a few more here in Costa Rica which are on our to go list. This was a field day for me! The state of decay as perfect to give that eery feeling. Best part was when it became foggy for a bit. And the view is mesmerising. Only place where you can see the town and both lakes. The one on the left is from last weeks video. I really enjoyed exploring and making this one. I had that music waiting for a place like this for quite a while now.

Great video👍 The droneshots and music worked very well together. Buy the place and renovate it! 😁

Haha, i really had that exact thought! But i think it's too far in decay for a renovation. Too bad though, it seems like a nice place. Thanks for noticing about the music, happy to read you enjoyed it. Thanks for tuning in. 😄

I know right?! 😂👻 It fits right into a scene of a horror movie, especially when the fog came in. And it's quite remote too. Very intriguing to explore as i just love these kind of places. And then the views... oh my. Actually the only place where you can see both lakes and the town in one panoramic view. The lake on the left is actually the one from the other video you just watched. Thanks for stopping by, hope you are doing well. Have a great Sunday! 🤗💜👍

I'M NOT GOING THERE........ This sure reeks of abandonment. Plants growing on the roof on the veradahs and Oh my the walls are swollen. See that huge banana plant in Drone flight. . Such gorgeous agaves. What happened, deinitely not a fire. entire family left all these. okay bankrupcy . It is a warning to property developers. Let it be sellable

Well, this was actually a hotel. Those are the remains of the lodges. Funny enough we never saw a main building, nor a reception or restaurant part. Just the rooms. It used to be very popular by scientists who were studying the flora & fauna of the area. It got sold and the new owner wasn't as successful. Too bad as it's nice and secluded, it looks like it used to be very nice and the views are spectacular. Bit windy and cold though. When researching information about this place, it looks like it is still open. Pictures look like taken yesterday and nowhere is mentioned that it has been abandoned for this long. Very odd and the more mystery to the story. Regardless to all that, it's a beautiful yet eerie sight.

I went to this hotel back when I was a child, my mother and I even got to meet the owner. Its such a shame that she had to close it because she was sold protected land without her knowledge so she was kicked out :(
@BakkerfeelingAdventures5 ай бұрын
It really is a shame she had to close as this place seems pretty amazing. I always wondered why it closed, so thanks for sharing that info. The views alone are already worth the trip from town. It wasn't until our next visit that we discovered the main area (reception/restaurant) a bit further down the road. We did come back several times to hang out, enjoy the view and explore the place. Too bad we never saw it in it's glory days. Thanks for tuning in and for sharing your story. Have you ever been back to Nuevo Arenal? 😊

Where is that in Nuevo Arenal?
@BakkerfeelingAdventures2 ай бұрын
Leaving town towards Cañas (opposite from La Fortuna), after roughly 5-10 minutes you will see a bus stop at an intersection on your right hand. This is also where the worn out wooden sign is with 'Cote Lake ➡' on it (yellow letters). This is where you take a right turn and follow that (gravel) road for a while. Eventually (5-10 minutes in) you will see a paved road on your left and small abandoned toll house on the hill to your left as well, here you go left and follow until you see the place where we start walking in the video. You will also see the sign of the lodges there. You can just walk passed the chain keeping cars out, it's open access. One thing we didn't knew and discovered only on later visits, is that once you reach the point where we started, you can also follow the road even further to get to the main buildings (reception, restaurants and more cabins). In general this really is a great place to explore, keep in mind that at the edge where you catch the panoramic views, it's often windy so make sure to bring something to keep you warm. Other than that, enjoy! 😄

LOL, there's no guard and i like abandoned places - classic 😂, makes you wonder what ever happened to these kind of places... i heard this one went bankrupt and i agree its a pity noone brought it, its looks like ites been like this for a while based on the rusty roofs and overgrown bush and plants
@BakkerfeelingAdventures3 жыл бұрын
Oh yes, this one has been abandoned for quite a while. And in a country like this (rain seasons and heat), decay, mould and plants don't take long to kick in. Better for me of course as i love places like this and in such state. This used to be quite a popular place though, the views are stunning and it's tucked away on the hills. No guard is always like an open door to me. 😂
