There is a similiar place in Toronto called Downsview airbase but a lot of stuff is covered up but there is an abandoned home area where air personal did work. I know that place my husband was stationed there in the late nineties with the USMC. I miss the old place. I’d been there a lot before we got married and moved from base to base. He’s just retired a year ago. But that is where our story began.

Cool video! Thanks for the history about the base housing. I remember when it was an active base. It was a pretty busy place back in the day! I think more videos about historical places that are not well known would complement you abandoned building videos.

That was cool I see these sites all over California too it is such a shame they go to waste especially with so many homeless out in the world. Most would rather clean up all the waste and make a profit than support the homeless. Different but yes intriguing thanks!!
@kristy71746 жыл бұрын
I liked that you changed it up! I do remember the video of the houses. From your inserts I learned more about this base. The fact that one building is still in use does surprise me. Must be something good in there. You earned your burrito Kyle. You guys walked a ling way. Great explore. I really enjoyed it!

Naval Air Station, not Air Force. We Navy vets take offense to that mix up, my friend. Lol. Jk. I’m glad to see the land in use, but the houses and other buildings just rotting away is sad, especially when affordable housing is always in short supply. Thanks for another great video, my friend. Keep them coming and God bless you!

I am very surprised the government hasn't leveled the housing units, especially since they have been abandoned for over 20 years and have been declared uninhabitable... You are so right. It is eerie when you see a place that once must have been alive with activity. The lawns, I noticed, are atill mowed. super video👍👍👍

Wow, that was very interesting. I took chemistry for my nursing degree so I find it tragic the solvents they found were in highest enough levels to have been causing symptoms. I wonder how many men, women and children got sick. TCE (trichloroethylene) is not only a solvent but it is also used for inhalation anesthesia for short term surgery. It has a sweet odor and also has analgesic effects. Toxic effects damage the kidney, liver and can cause neurological damage. PCE (tetrachloroethylene) also a solvent and cooling liquid that again damages neurological, kidney and liver functions. The carbontetrachloride, same thing for use and toxic effects. The question is how did it get in the groundwater? Sounds like it wasn't properly contained or disposed of. Really enjoy your videos, this one was very interesting, one from a medical standpoint. Got me researching! :-)

Sometimes I get emotional when I view your shorts; this was one of those times. The military housing was obviously for officers' families, and at a NASA base, I'm sure that's everyone working there. The housing, playground, basketball court, mailbox... all just reminded me that there were lives happening there, children growing up, etc., and now it's just nothing. My husband was a kid when his dad, a reserve army officer, was called up during the missile crisis in the early 60's. He talks about how fun base life was; movie theater, tons of recreational sites, etc. The house they lived in was brand new, similar to what you captured here. Impressive use of the drone, BTW. Keep it up, Kyle. You are a video historian.
