Exploring Abandoned Villages, Lakes, And Caves In Spain / Vanlife Adventure - May 2024 (part 1)

Fontscaldetes is a small unpopulated village attached to the sea side of the mountainous area to the east of the municipality of Cabra del Camp ( Alt Camp ). The town is specifically located in the Voltorera mountain range, under the Cabdells hill and to the east of the Migdia rocks . Lovely park up, secluded and quiet and only a couple of hours from Barcelona.
Los Fayos Caves - The medieval castle of Los Fayos, which is known in documents from the beginning of the 12th century, was located in the largest of the caves located along the rock walls that shelter the town and is known as the Caco Cave. Legend has it that this mythological giant, a friend of foreign things, first inhabited it. The local people say that here he hid the cattle that he stole from the powerful Hercules, another giant in the area. He secured 4 oxen and 4 cows, which he dragged by the tail so that their footprints would deceive Hercules when he followed the trail, but the rest of the cattle heard and followed the lowing of one of the stolen heifers. When the two giants met, a strong battle began through which the rivers and mountains arose as they are today. Moncayo was the last stone that Hercules placed on top of the defeated Cacus. According to some studies, there is no doubt that the caverns that multiply throughout the rock walls were inhabited and used by prehistoric man. We would therefore find ourselves in one of the oldest settlements in the area.

We’re Chris, Cat and Rolo our chocolate labrador. We live full time in our self-converted 7.5 tonne DAF LF 45 Lorry traveling around Europe. We've traveled in motorhomes for over 15 years all over Europe and I cat lived in a motorhome in NZ traveling over 25 years ago with my girls then aged 3 months and 3 years old. Motorhoming and traveling are not new to us it been a way of life for many years but we decided life is too short and we wanted to live a simpler life and go full time. We downsized from a 4 bedroom family home to buy our 7.5-tonne lorry and spent two years converting our lorry to become our tiny home on wheels. it was a gruelling and hard slog building our own tiny home on wheels but worth it in the end, as we have our own unique home to travel with on wheels.
